Midnight Madness kicked off the basketball season on many campuses last Friday and SI.com’s resident hoops expert, Luke Winn, is ready for tip-off. He just completed his first set of power rankings and has the Top 16 teams in the nation ranked like this:

With the loss of head coach Billy Gillespie and Acie Law, doubt is certain for the Aggie nation but the Texas A&M program has built a solid foundation and culture that should keep them in the hunt for the Big 12 Championship.
With a key piece of their nucleus back (A.J. Graves – Preseason Horizon League P.O.Y.), the Butler Bulldogs deserve some recognition and seek to improve upon their Sweet 16 appearance last season.
