Like Pujols hitting two more HR's for the cards last night to go along with the 2 he hit the other night against the twins have nothing to do with the fact he bulked up on steroids?......

Manny is a fraud. I can't wait untill he gets back in the dodgers lineup and can't hit, field or even chew gum and walk without his PED'S. Then we'll see him on the field fake an injury that ends his dope-filled career and that will be the last we hear of Manny-the-dope-using-liar ever, ever again:o)

here is what i don't get. if baseball is cracking down on drugs in the game why are they so passive about it. players should be subject to drug tests all year long including the off season. i also think the punishments they have for these guys is a joke. 50 games for a second offense and 100 games for third. really? why even let it get that far?

Didn't we already discuss Manny and his suspension last week? Or am I thinking of the 50,000 other fan sites that discussed it? No matter ... I don't have anything to add about Lincecum's mechanics, being neither a sports physiologist nor a journalist (either of which knows just about everything about everything), but I'm yet another long-time fan who doesn't quite understand why pitchers are handled so tenderly these days.

There was one year in the late 60's, for instance, when Don Drysdale made 40 starts and pitched 320 innings. Do the long division there, guys. Similarly, I recall a year when Bob Gibson made 34 starts and completed 28 of them. I realize that these two are HOF'ers and not your everyday hacks, but surely somebody can do a study showing definitively whether or not five-man rotations and strict pitch counts truly do reduce injuries and/or prolong careers.

In a related vein, I think it would be interesting to know what percentage of the deluge of home runs in the past decade plus were hit off of each team's 4th and 5th starters compared to their 1-2-3 starters.

Regarding McCarver's choice of Halladay over Greinke, Lincecum, and Santana -- with those guys I think it's like, which do you prefer, the lobster or the prime rib; it's a matter of taste. All of them are bulldogs who have great stuff and want to go the entire game. Personally, my pick is Lincecum - his stuff is the best of the bunch. McCarver should have no concerns over his delivery; he's never had an injury and he can throw forever. He moves fast so he generates a lot of momentum toward the plate and he has a super long stride with such late arm action. All of that equates to less arm strain. In fact, I think that is what is wrong with most pitchers today; they are slow, robotic, and over-coached. They don't generate enough force and momentum with their bodies and need to speed up their arm action, which results in eventual arm trouble. Timmy will have little to no arm trouble his entire career because of his mechanics, not in spite of them. He's a throwback to the days when pitchers instinctively moved down the hill faster and they absolutely hated coming out of ball games prematurely. Forget the pitch counts. Oh, and let's get back to the four man rotation. We need to get back to the days of Seaver, Carlton, and Ryan. 150 pitches, 9 innings pitched, 20 years!

FOX baseball analyst Tim McCarver joined the show to discuss the biggest issues in baseball.

-- Dan asked McCarver if the media is being hypocritical toward Manny Ramirez. McCarver said no.

"The fans are going to dictate that. He's a star. He is a star hitter who served his suspension," McCarver said.

McCarver reititerated his stance that Manny served his suspension and he still should be a Hall of Famer.

-- McCarver confirmed that he did drop "Passion Bucket" while discussing Lou Piniella on this weekend's telecast.

-- Dan asked McCarver which pitcher he would build a team around. McCarver said that he'd take Roy Halladay over Zach Greinke, Tim Lincecum and Johan Santana.

McCarver is concerned about Lincecum's unusual delivery ... all torque.
