Sports Illustrated writer Lee Jenkins joined the show to discuss his cover story this week on the murder of high school football coach Ed Thomas, reportedly by a former player.

-Jenkins was assigned this story and doesn't volunteer for these type of heartbreaking stories. The goal is to give an accurate account of the subject's life by speaking to people from his town. The piece is as much about the small town coach and the impact he has on the community.

-Brad Meester from the Jaguars recalled a story about how Thomas still got on him for his blocking technique despite the fact that Meester is a 10-year NFL veteran.

-There is a subject in custody and initial reports are that the alleged killer did not like the way Thomas was treating his younger brother. Jenkins, however, said there are a number of factors and a pattern of erratic behavior from the alleged killer.

-Jenkins again emphasizes how small the community is and how people from the town are trying to cousel both the family of the victim and of the alleged killer. This is the way it works in these small towns as everyone bonds together and it has a family atmosphere, even in a time of tragedy.
