If they had an independent lab do the b sample they might have prevailed. Having their own lab confirm their own results is a case of "cover my a**." Nobody wants to admit to a mistake. NASCAR....you screwed up. Keep testing....but do it RIGHT!

They don't like being told they are wrong!, do they! nascar should have to pay this man for every minute they screwed him. They are too big for their britches and need to be brought down to earth. They don't think they have to follow any rules and believe that their system is the best. Mayfield not being told what he tested positive for and them telling he is a druggie, etc. is insane and I hope Mayfield wins big in the lawsuit that he is going to bring against these bozos. France and his family should be kicked out of this business and it should be run by people who know what they are doing. nascar has become a big bore and too powerful for one group. The team owners are fools for believing Mayfield is heavy on drugs and are afraid of him driving with their people - what fools. Even some of the drivers are foolish enough to believe this crap. Wake up guys and understand that nascar, if not changed, can do the same thing to you! If they don't like you or you are a one owner team or whatever, they can make life hard. This is not fair and these stupid drivers should be standing by Mayfield's side and helping him out. Shame on all these bums! Also, a side note. Kick the bozo doctor or so-called doctor out on his butt. Close that lab now and have some people who know how to test samples the correct way.

NASCAR spokesperson Ramsey Poston joined the show to discuss Jeremy Mayfield's reinstatement.

-- Poston confirmed that Mayfield tested positive for methaamphetamines.

-- Poston said that a judge ruled Mayfield should be able to race and make a living. Poston wonders what implications this will have.

"That is perhaps the biggest question in this entire decision," Poston said. "What does this mean to the rest of the sports world? A federal judge has just allowed him back on the track. What does this mean to the NFL, Major League baseball, NBA, running, the Olympics ... anywhere. Does this now open the door for anyone who's found with a positive test to go to court go to judge and get put back on a playing surface. Perhaps it does."

-- Poston explained NASCAR's wide-ranging drug policy. He said since there's no collective bargaining agreement, NASCAR has a lot of latitude. And they do have a hotline, and they do send out a list of what drugs are prohibited.

-- Poston said drug tests are complicated and take a few days to get right. So they plan to test Mayfield often.

"That's the issue. There is no credible instantaneous test. ... You have a very high degree of false positives. It takes about four days to do both and A and B sample test. The best we could do given the judge's order is test him every opportunity that we have," Poston said.
