Ed Soares hoped it wouldn't come down to this, but he knew deep down it was inevitable. Following Paulo Filho's dismal performance against Chael Sonnen at WEC 36, Soares, Filho's manager, confirmed to CagePotato.com that his fighter won't be making the move to the UFC. Said Soares:
"It's true. We've recevied paperwork that they're releasing him from his contract. The WEC's been great throughout everything, but it's understandable. He's had a rough year. We have faith that he'll be back. I still believe he's one of the best middleweights in the world."
Then, switching gears entirely, Soares, who is also Anderson Silva's manager, offered the latest regarding the rumored Silva-Chuck Liddell showdown at UFC 95 in London next year. According to Soares, it's nothing more than a rumor.
