Just as he did in 2009, Red Sox icon David Ortiz is off to another slow start in Boston. After five games he has only two hits, one RBI and no home runs while striking out an AL-high nine times. He had similar difficulties at the start of last season, failing to hit a home run until late May and batting just .196 with three home runs and 55 strikeouts in his first 53 games. He eventually rebounded to hi 25 home runs and drive in 75 runs in his final 97 games but his early-season struggles are renewing fears that at age 34, Ortiz's best days are behind him.
What do you think? Should Red Sox manager Terry Francona bench one of the most popular players in franchise history? Should he be a platoon player? Or should the Red Sox stick with Ortiz and hope he returns to the Big Papi of old?
