A weekly NFL breakdown that heads in the opposite direction of your average pro football analysis.

1. Thanks for nothing NFL. The three turkeys you aired today did nothing to get us out of doing dishes, spending time with our family or any other Thanksgiving tradition that we rely on football to avoid. Time has come to abandon Detroit and set up the best possible matchup. That way when the Lions improve and the game returns to Detroit, they can make a big deal out of it.

If Lions fans starts crying about tradition, just remind them that they play indoors. Nothing says tradition less than FieldTurf and a roof.

2. There's a huge difference between the 0-12 Lions and last year's 0-12 Dolphins. Miami lost six games of its first 12 games by three points or less. The Lions have only finished within three points once this season. That bodes poorly for Detroit's chances of winning a game this season. And it means the turnaround we've seen in Miami this year is a lot less likely for the Lions in 2009.

3. Commentators mention the Lions are blessed with two first-round picks after the Roy Williams trade. But if the NFL is able to institute a rookie salary cap by 2010, those two first-rounders could be albatrosses more than attributes. Just think if Detroit takes Matthew Stafford or Sam Bradford and has to hand out of one of the last insane rookie contracts in NFL history. Don't let Matt Ryan's success fool you, taking a QB that high is a huge financial risk.

One thing we know for sure, if Matt Millen was still Detroit's GM, Texas Tech receiver Michael Crabtree would be in a Lions uniform next season.

3. Before the Eagles get too excited about Donovan McNabb and their win over Arizona, remember how awful the Cardinals are on the East Coast. They've let up over 35 points a game in four trips out East and each time the opposing quarterback has had his best game of the season.

4. Talking about QB elixirs, how lucky are the Cowboys to have hosted the 49ers and Seahawks to get Tony Romo some confidence. Romo always looks great when he has time. But he'll have a much harder time making plays against the Steelers and Giants in his next two games.

5. Hall of Fame debate: who deserves to get in more, Kurt Warner or Brian Dawkins? The Cardinals quarterback has gotten some Hall mention of late, and will likely reach Canton if he wins a third MVP. While Warner's definitely a strong candidate, he probably gets too much credit because he's a quarterback. Dawkins, a 13-year veteran with the Eagles, has probably been more valuable in Philadelphia over the last 10 years than McNabb. How many times has a huge Dawkins hit or interception changed the direction of a big game?
