Each afternoon, we'll pore through the user blogs on FanNation and showcase three of the day's most interesting entries.

• PinstripePride of City that Never Sleeps believes the Yankees have made a grievous error with their signing of CC Sabathia:

"No, what the Yankees have done by agreeing to this 7-year, $161 million contract is the same thing a ditzy teenage girl does in the mall with her daddy’s credit card. They impulse buy. The Yankees saw the biggest, latest fad on a shiny display with flashing lights and colorful signs, and their initial reaction was: “OMG, I’ve just got to have that!” So, what did they do? They splurged and threw everything including the kitchen sink (and the refrigerator) at this guy." [Yankees don't CC their mistake]

"Keeping it real, very few teams have made moves, but look at the ones who are in the news. The Yanks want every pitcher on the market. The Red Sox want Teixeira, Lowe, and Burnett. The Braves and the Cubs are looking to trade for Peavy. The Mets have added future bust K-Rod and traded for his replacement J.J. Putz. Even the Orioles have done something in trading Ramon Hernandez. With the money the Phils were freeing up letting Pat Burrell go, one might have though they were going to be a player in the free agent market. Instead, they have set themselves up to be outbid and outdone by the more elite teams, of which they should be one." [The Phillies and Free Agency: Much Ado About Jack Squat]
</intro>

Shut up, idiot. Hundreds of millions of people love soccer. If you don't like it, maybe you should display a basic level of courtesy and maturity and keep your mouth shut. I'm sure you wouldn't like it someone was saying football wasn't a sport.

As for soccer players' toughness, I'm guessing you didn't watch the European Championship in 2008. In one game, a Turkish player went up to head the ball and had skin on his split apart, and he started bleeding out of his head. He went over to the sidelines, where the medic stapled his head to close the cut so he go back into the game, moments later.

So the next time you feel like calling soccer theater, why don't you grab a knife and cut your scalp. Then, staple that now gushing wound. Then run around for 45 minutes straight. Afterwards, take a 15 minute break. Then run around for 45 more minutes straight. After that, see if you think of yourself as an athlete or a dramatist.

Dude--relax I know you were up at 4am so you could get ready for work at McDonalds, but don't take that out on me. Millions of people love soccer, true. Millions also love Oprah or American Idol. I wasn't questioning Soccer player's toughness. I'm sure their are plenty of tough players, but there are tough actors and actresses in Hollywood as well. It's drama played by well conditioned actors, most of whom are grossly undersized for real team sports. Children begin playing because parents know it's the only game that the first time you run around kicking a ball, you appear as if you have been doing it for years. As long as you can run, you can play. You can't just pick up and be proficient in any other sport on the first day except soccer. I don't like American Idol either if that makes you feel better.

Good idea. A way to showcase some writers on this site that are actually talented. I'd ask if they get paid anything for having their work featured on a site that advertises, but I think I can guess the answer to that.

As for the nest edition of this...

"Make no mistake about it, this Barcelona team is as good as advertised. Many friends of mine, Spanish all, knew this would happen. They saw the injuries, the defections, and the animosity at Real last season. They also saw Pep Guardiola take charge at the Nou Camp and turn Barcelona around before they had hardly deviated off-course. Do I think Real Madrid will win this game? You bet. My personal opinion, as biased as it is, tells me that Real blanks Barcelona 2-0, both goals from Higuain." [El clasico]
