Ok Mr. Perloff first of all forget about the passed and who one in the 70's and 80's and what not. Every one in the NFL or in any sport has a chance of being great . Now is the Cardinals chance no different from when any other none cared about team on an uprising to contention has made their presence felt in a sport ( you do the research your a supposed analyst ). EVERYBODY HATES when they see these teams come up. And you know why?..., because people like you and every other person who is to busy hating are all on the old team of championships band wagon. So why don't you crack open a nice cold Bud Light and hop on the Cardinals bus now because 20 years from now you will be writing a story line on how good the Cardinals are and how far a road they traveled and you have been a fan from the start like a liar. And that is the reason why most small writing analyst as your self and every hater in this room are simply as I speak.. HATERS!!!!!! Never just accepting the game for what it is and what it was and stop being so negative towards success of losing teams and be real from your heart on what is truth of entertainment and skill is. This Superbowl was amazing and I am not even a cardinal fan!! Be real and make it far, stay pissed off because you sucked at sports and never had skill and hold in the pain in memories and you will always remain a HATER...

Wow, I wonder how you sports journalists get your jobs and keep them (as apparantly many people do, given the posts here). Well, I know not to waste any more time reading Andy Perloff articles and I won't refute each of your points about the game (given your viewpoint, if you don't know you're wrong I cannot impose any logic that will help you come to that conclusion), but I do agree with your comment about Arizona's defense. I can assure you however, that I am a true Springsteen fan and very much enjoyed his set and song selection. You must have missed the Obama inauguration (which a 'real' Springsteen fan would not miss) - as he played The Rising there, it was a good signal he would not play it at the Super Bowl. As far as changing the lyrics in Glory Days, I would've been very happy having Bruce sing that song with his lyrical choice at my Bar Mitzvah.

It wasn't the best Super Bowl ever IMHO but your statement to the quality of the teams is pointless. This game was better than watching one team run the other over. Pitts D was strong, but Warner managed to get one hell of a lot of yards. The Cardinals beat the Eagles when SI and others were jumping back on their bandwagon after all the early season poor paly calls and weak execution. The Eagles should have beat the Cardinals but they didnt, and they didn't lose, the Cardinals and Warner BEAT the Eagles to get to the Super Bowl. Some of the Officals calls were lame, but there was a reason the Steelers were at their 1 yard line, and they were getting shut down, the hold was a tackle -- so good call. And Fitzgerald was covered a lot, and both sides had some questionable offensive play calls. And your drivel about Springsteen and your selection of songs -- it was an NBC Super Bowl halftime show set with the lame Ref bit and all, the Boss delivered on his performance as they wanted. And the greatest Super Bowl ever -- XXXII

The quality of the teams? Either of these teams would blow the 70's Steelers out. They were great in their time, but most of the guys who played then would be too small and slow to make a roster in the present day. Example - Lynn Swann had great hands, but he wouldn't see the field for the Cardinals. Fitzgerald has the hands plus a ton more size and speed. No QB as inefficient as Bradshaw could stick today. Lambert played MLB at like 210 lb. Again - the best of their time, but their time is long past.

Ben probably will go to the HOF, but he will be far down on the list of greatest QBs ever. In no particular order, here are some who are or were much closer to great. Peyton Manning (my all-time choice for all-time greatest), Elway, Montana, Brady (we'll see if he can return to the same level after this injury; I'm not so sure), Unitas (of course). Okay, whom did I leave out? Kelly and Aikman and Young? Very good QBs but not at the same level as the others; yet better than Ben R.

A weekly NFL breakdown that heads in the opposite direction of your average pro football analysis.

1. The press box at Sunday's Super Bowl was full of chatter about "best Super Bowl ever." C'mon, are you serious? Here are five reasons Super Bowl XLIII can't seriously be considered one of the top two or three best of all time:

a. The quality of the teams: This was the 2008 Steelers and the Cardinals. Not the Cowboys and the Steelers in the 1970s. As great as the game was, there's just not as much gravity with two teams that barely caught the nation's attention in the week leading up to the Super Bowl. The Steelers are a great team but hardly one for the ages. They're a team with a superior defense and a playmaking QB who caught a huge break when Tom Brady went down in Week 1. And the Cardinals were 9-7 and won the pathetic NFC West. They had a great postseason run but didn't exactly beat three powerhouses en route to the Super Bowl. Their wins were over a Falcons team with a rookie quarterback, a Panthers team that couldn't have topped a good high school team the way Jake Delhomme played, and an Eagles team that was only 9-6-1.

b. Penalties: How could the greatest game ever played have a safety that was caused by a holding call? Doesn't compute. And the roughing-the-holder was just embarrassing. More importantly, holding calls made a huge impact.

c. No true bombs: The Cardinals got all West Coast and stopped throwing it up downfield. Big Ben really aired it out only once, when he under threw a wide-open Nate Washington in the first quarter. There was a lot of after-the-catch yards from both teams, but nothing like Bradshaw-to-Swann.

2. The Steelers should have won by two touchdowns. They definitely took their foot off the gas and it almost cost them the game. The Cardinals weren't able to stop Pittsburgh's offense for most of the game, until the Steelers had an emotional lull in the third quarter when they probably thought they had the win wrapped up. Santonio Holmes said the Steelers knew they were going to score on the last drive because the Cardinals "hadn't been stopping us all game." That's probably true, but makes you wonder why they didn't score more points.

3. The Cardinals should have tried more long jump balls to Larry Fitzgerald. With all the hype before the game, maybe they were afraid the Steelers' defense had adjusted to that kind of play. Fitzgerald was down field in decent position, but Kurt Warner didn't take the shots. Fitzgerald had to be frustrated with the play-calling early. I'm surprised he didn't go Anquan Boldin on offensive coordinator Todd Haley.

4. Bottom line for Super Bowl quarterback is winning. I don't care how many yards Warner threw for. He will go down in history as having prolific Super Bowl stats, but the key one will be losing two out of three.

5. Bruce Springsteen's halftime show was was lame, and anyone who disagrees with that probably isn't a real fan. His lineup of Tenth Avenue Freeze Out, Born To Run, Working on a Dream and Glory Days was all wrong. And changing the Glory Days lyric from "baseball" to "football" felt like something a band would do at a Bar Mitzvah. Here is the roster I would have had Bruce perform:

1. The Rising
2. Badlands
3. Born To Run
4. No Surrender
