The grudge match between traditional Middlesex League rivals Watertown and Lexington turned bloody Monday when tensions erupted behind the scorer's table.
With 5:30 remaining and Lexington clinging to a slim lead, Lexington scorekeeper Nick Santosuosso took exception to getting water thrown on him by Watertown’s Josh Bellini and landed a punch, opening a cut over Bellini’s left eye, in front of spectators watching the game.
Play was stopped as Santosuosso was escorted from the gym by local officers. Watertown police said there was no arrest and no charges, but the incident will be investigated by the department’s school resource officer.
CBS News reports both men are facing assault and battery charges. Here's a real-time look at the incident. (CBS has a slo-mo zoom view.)
What do you think? Should either man face charges for the incident?
