Bring on the Dance. Hold the Curry.
That's the attitude a growing sect of hoop heads is espousing in the wake of Davidson's loss to the College of Charleston in the Southern Conference tournament final. Tired of the year-long obsession with Davidson star Stephen Curry, who spearheaded the Wildcats' unlikely Elite Eight run last season, this group of fans wants members of the NCAA tournament selection committee to think with their heads and not allow Curry's moments of yesteryear tug at their hearts. To that sentiment, Tom Knott of the Washington Times writes:
The Wildcats are a nice team but hardly a "bubble" team. Curry is a wonderful shooter but hardly Pete Maravich. The Wildcats are a one-trick team that benefited from the single-elimination format of the NCAA tournament last season
To be sure, Curry carried a good amount of celebrity to each game this season, but it looks like the tour is over on the big stage. He'll have to head off-Broadway most likely to keep things going.
What do you think? Should Curry and the 'Cats be invited to the tourney? Will the fervor for Curry live on in the NIT?
Cheap sentiment not a determinant for RPI [Washington Times]
