I saw both the English and Spanish "coverage" of the first goal. The Spanish announcers were right on top of it. They commented that Barca needed to have possession to play their game but that ManU was keeping the ball from them. Shortly thereafter Barca suddenly got possession of the ball. "That's it; that's it...." one of the Spanish commentators intoned. Six seconds later, Barca had it's first GOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLL..... It was BRILLIANT broadcasting. Congrats to Barca - although I agree that Chelsea was ROBBED - although it didn't help itself by playing defensively while Barca was DOWN a man.

I love the Spanish game- and although Barca doesn't play like a normal Spanish side, they do have the characteristics of a that traditional Spanish game.
Fast, short passing- moving the tandem up field. It is really lovely to watch. They don't rely on bombing the ball down the field, they are tactical and precise.
The deserving team won today!

Barcelona clearly played better and deserved to win - I loved how they kept attacking all the way to the end. No delaying the game and piddling around. They wanted to win. This proves that a talented, committed attacking team will usually stomp a solid defense. I wasn't cheering for either squad in particular but I very much enjoyed the way that Barca played. Messi is the man. :)

I am so happy for Messi, Eto'o, and Henry in particular! Guardiola did an amazing job with this group. Particularly today- the defense was shaky coming in, and did very well.

I said before the game that Barca scoring an early goal will be crucial.
Man. U. likes to counterattack so much and its hard to do that successfully when down a goal.

That free kick at 16' was just an example of a Ronaldo flop. Pique was in a poor position, but Ronaldo stepped into a player who was turning away from him on purpose to draw the foul. Full speed it looked like a foul. The replay shows Ronaldo stepped left (when the ball was right) to draw contact.
