<body>SILENCE in hockey arenas during breaks in the play. These days being at a game is an all-out aural assault made up of artificial &amp;quot;excitement&amp;quot; boosting song clips, eminently forgettable cheers, etc., all delivered at deafening levels. It's like living in a music video, and is completely insulting to both fans -- who may want to make thoughtful comments to their neighbours about the game during breaks in play -- and to the game itself, which should be able to provide sufficient excitement without the attending circus crap. Bring back some maturity to watching hockey please, enlightened owners...</body>

<body>Great entries so far and a lot of items on the SI list made me nod, smile, say 'yes' or do all three. I miss seeing something that only happened once a year and only lasted a few minutes yet seemed like such a cool experience to those who lived it: When the crowds would spill over the 18th fairway and around the green as soon as the last pro hit his approach shot on Sunday at the British Open. The pros always somehow made it to the 18th green unscathed even if a few of them looked scared at times. Others came out of the crowd with a huge smile on their face (probably the leader and eventual winner). They stopped the practice a few years ago, for security reasons no doubt. I'd still love to see them allow it.</body>
