I don??t know if any of you remembers but south american teams beat your beloved rich european tems in the last 2 FIFA world tournaments for clubs. So i don??t think it??s obvious that S??oPaulo, Inter, Boca or any other great south american team would loose to Arsenal, Manchester U or Real Madrid. They deserve to be on the list more than this other clubs. What they do with no money, no big stars its almost magic.

I only just read your intro to this article fully. Honestly Jonah, do you know anything about football at all? You honestly think Inter is concerned about a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Barca in a friendly tournament they sent a bunch of nobodies to play in?

Hell Adriano got a game. He's 5th choice at the San Siro, the only 1st team players that played were returning from injury and a lot of new boys & youngsters were given a run out.

It may have been an insult to their hosts that they didn't send a full squad to such a glamorous match, but I can guarantee you Mancini ain't worried about it after beating Empoli a few days later.

Seriously, Manchester United? I don't agree that people should be jumping on Arsenal's bandwagon just yet but Man U shouldn't be there at all. They've barely strung a decent match together yet.

I don't think Milan are all conquering either, they are on top now but how do they fancy tricky matches against Benfica & Celtic without Ronaldo? They have failed to improve a desperately aging side that was quite lucky to win the Champ Lg. Apart from the semi-final & final they were gifted the luckiest draw at every turn. If they have to play real teams to get there this year they will tire quickly. Without Ronaldo, will they rely on goal shy Gila, Granpa Inzaghi or, more likely, midfielder Kaka to provide them with their last minute injury time winners?

Liverpool & Roma deserve to be there, Milan too. Bayern, Juve & Chelsea, maybe there are few others doing anything better. Real & Sevilla yeah, but Barca? They have had the same start as Inter, they don't deserve to be there... yet. Both Inter & Barca will begin in earnest when the season resumes this weekend but until then get Barca and Man U off that list it's an insult.

Also anyone who claims Celtic or Rangers should be there doesn't watch SPL football! If Celtic continue their fine form in the Champions Lg and get a point in Donetsk & all 3 from Milan in Glasgow then they will deserve inclusion. Same goes for Rangers.

England won 3:0 against Israel. Yes. But who the f* is Israel?

When was the last time England won a tournament? Or when was the last time England got into the finale of a tournament? How many times England didn't even got out of the group stage?

England couldn't even win the Euro at home ...

just look here and weep:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_European_Football_Championship#Statistics

England is just a third grade national team. And the league? With a cap it won't be in the top 5 of Europe. Top 10 would be hard.

And this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIFA_World_Cup#Results

is not better.

Face the truth.

And as for the rankings, cmon people, we all knew as of last year Freeman's rankings are meaningless. Just like Gabe Marcotti's Top 50 footballer rankings.

You say that the Liverpool fans should not get excited at the 6-0 win over Derby but then you celebrate Man U's win over Sunderland! Man U had a fortunate win over Spurs but you do not place Arsenal, a team above them with a game in hand on your list.I can never understand the way you rank the teams, in fact i have yet to meet anyone that can. Where is Chelsea, if Man U is there then why are they not. Please do not tell me about injuries, every team goes through them that why you have to have strength in depth and not have 3 or 4 super stars and the rest has crap. Liverpool are missing their two most important players and still powering on. Chelsea are missing players, that is all part of football. Please sit down and truly analyze your ranking system or people will just stop reading your column.

Oh please, dear englishmen, calm down, ok?

You should be flattered that there are two englsih teams in the Top 10.

The EPL is the most overrated league in the world (how many Champions League wins in the last 10 years - with how many starters?) And as soon as there is a real cap on foreign players, the EPL is toast. No homegrown talent - nothing.

It says everything that you still put your hopes on overrated 'freekicks-but-nothing-else' players like Beckham or bulldogs like Rooney.

If there is ever a cap, the EPL would be on the same level like the leagues of Bulgaria or Belorussia.

Like the english national team today.

Calling the EPL 'Tier 1' together with the italian or spanish league is just wrong. Get a sense for reality.

The soap opera that is Chelsea just keeps getting worse. On the heels of the Blues' 2-0 loss at Aston Villa last weeked, whispers of José Mourinho's imminent dismissal keep getting louder. Meanwhile, another world power, Inter Milan, is dealing with a host of injuries and still wondering how it got pummeled 5-0 by an even more injury-riddled team -- Barcelona -- in the Joan Gamper Cup.

Those setbacks have sent Chelsea and Inter tumbling off the Sept. 6 edition of the World Power Rankings. Manchester City is off, too -- as if we didn't see that coming. Back on this week are Liverpool, Roma and Manchester United.

Biggest climbers? Emotionally drained Sevilla rises a spot to No. 2, Real Madrid pole-vaults to No. 3 and Pachuca jumps to No. 6. Click above, check 'em out below and tawk amongst yourselves...

1. AC Milan

2. Sevilla

3. Real Madrid

4.
