I understand your argument re: Liverpool, but that means that teams in contention in leagues that end later are rewarded just for the timing of their schedule.

Arguably (admitted bias: I support Liverpool), Liverpool played well enough to win the final. The first goal was, to say the least, fortunate for AC Milan and it naturally changed the complexion of the game. Had it not gone in and the rest of the game remained the same (it wouldn't; Mascherano would've stayed in), and the game ended 1-1 and been resolved in penalties, what then? Liverpool's European campaign deserves better.

And a Red Sox fan with a Thrashers logo? What's up with that? In any case, don't feed the troll.

Yo Freedchick:
If you look back at FA Cup history, every team & manager has been ecstatic to win it along with the prize money. Mourinho has stated since February that he'd love for Chelsea to be the first team to win it in the new Wembley. And because they did win it & enjoyed winning it, you state "there's Mourinho belllowing". Of course they lost out in Champions League semis to Liverpool, but nowhere is it written that a team cannot enjoy winning the FA Cup if you lose out in UEFA Ch. League; nowhere except in the "Joanie Freedchick spin-machine". Remove thy tongue from SAF's rectum and be objective or we'll call in the omnibudsman in on you. And by the way, what happened to Mourinho's termination and the massive changes at Chelsea FC you predicted? Get a clue or have your sister start writing your column for you!!

Excuse me, but how a Coppa Italia and second place far behind the first in a devaluated italian league compares to everything else? Winning any Cup (FA, spanish and Italian) means absolutely nothing, it's winning the league and CL that counts for the big teams. I do have problems with Pachuca and Santos being there...but, after all, it's the World Rankings, we should do a European Ranking instead then.

No please, you are in contradiction to yourself! AS Roma won the National league Cup (Coppa Italia) and you drop it off the power ranking, and put Sevilla at third place! Why? Roma team was also second in serie A and finished in the 8 first places of Champion League. It seems to me that your evaluation is too much inaccurate.

Jonah, good on you for sticking to your guns and justifying them in an entertaining, funny and honest manner. Power rankings are about PERFORMANCE and RESULTS, not reputation. AC Milan, calciopoli scandal notwithstanding, won the Champions Leauge because they played their rossonerian butts off. Pachuca won two leauge finals (runner up in a third) and two continental trophies in a twelve month span. Sevilla defended their UEFA Cup, and...jinx alert...is the last club in Europe to have a shot at a treble (La Liga/Copa del Rey). Keep the faith brother. CHICAGO FIRE RULES!!!

tht dude talkin about how soccer is a ****. i would like the see him try and score in the "huge net" from 20 or even 10 yards away with defenders all around him and a goalie in his face. but anywayz i think that even though liverpool may not have won a trophy they are still better than a lot of teams up there. if there was a tournament with those top 10 teams and liverpool, liverpool would be a contender to win. also i think chelsea is better than sevilla

The only reason Milan are number one in this outrageously dumb list is because they won the CL. But you're even a victim of your own poor logic: where's Liverpool in second? Chelsea and Man Utd in third and fourth? What's worse: how can Boca, of all teams, even be considered in the same list? Who's next, Toronto FC?

It's just a tournament. I'm reminded of the Final Four in collegiate basketball. Sure, sometimes the best team wins (Florida), but it's unusual. I think you've convinced me to take my reading elsewhere. Well done.

I'm bound to ruffle a lot of feathers this week on my May 31 World Soccer Power Rankings. Former No. 3 Liverpool comes tumbling off, even though the Reds reached their second Champions League final in three years.

My rationale? At this point in the season, clubs deserve to be on the rankings for one of two reasons: They've either won a major trophy or are still in the running for one. And Liverpool, despite an amazing run to Athens, finishes its year with zip.

And remember, this isn't a ranking of the best clubs in the world; it's a power rankings.

So who's left? Here's the brief rundown:

1) AC Milan

2) Manchester United

3) Sevilla

4) Chelsea

5) Inter Milan

6) Real Madrid

7) Pachuca

8) Boca Juniors

9) Santos

10) FC Barcelona

With my riot gear at the ready, I'm prepared for your reactions. Fire away!
