No new venture gets off the ground without a snag or two. So it goes in this little corner of cyberspace.
Tuesday, we launched this blog under the name In The Trenches. The name made perfect sense. I'm a former offensive lineman, and the phrase is the same handle I used to identify my opinion pieces from 1998-99 at my college paper, the Independent Florida Alligator.
Unfortunately, I don't follow much NFL news. If I did, I would have known about The Trenches, an NFL blog on the Web site of The Sporting News. Apparently, some folks over there were upset about the name.
Since I used the name before anyone had even uttered the word blog, I could keep using it. But that wouldn't be very fair to the writers who have invested time building a brand. So, from this point forward, we'll be calling this section From Scrimmage. Same linemen-are-people-too sentiment. More elegant moniker.
I apologize for any confusion. I also apologize to the folks at The Trenches for swiping their name, and I forgive them for stealing it from me in the first place.
