In honor of BYU's upset of Oklahoma on Saturday, we present a glimpse into the future in Provo.
Meet Jake Heaps, the Seattle-area quarterback who thrilled the Cougars in June when he and two other stars - Texas receiver Ross Apo and California linebacker Zac Stout - announced their plans to play at BYU. In two years as a starter at Skyline High, Heaps is 29-0 with two state titles. Saturday, Heaps threw for 152 yards and two touchdowns as the Spartans opened their season with a 17-0 win against Portland (Ore.) Jesuit, the top-ranked 6A team in Oregon.
On Sept. 18, Heaps will face Washington-bound Nick Montana - son of Joe - when Skyline plays Oaks Christian of Westlake Village, Calif., in a game broadcast on ESPNU.
