Forget Cameron, he's alittle older then what the YANKS need. What the YANKS should do is give The MELK MAN a chance in the new stadium. He is young and should feel alittle more comfortable now.

Cameron is a career .250 hitter whose defensive skills have declined dramatically. Apat from the fact that he is CC's friend, will hit 25 or so homers, and has a great clubhouse presence, he adds very little.

Yeah but 250 and 25 homers a year sounds better than what Melky put up last year. At least offensively. Defensively Melky is probably a better option and also Melky is younger and under team control for years so he is cheap.

Really. I guess that explains why the Rangers did so poorly in 2001 and 2002: ARod was wearing their uniform (and taking a lot of their money) while still secretly playing for the Mariners.

In reality, Cameron arrived to replace Griffey after the '99 season, and ARod departed prior to the 2001 season. So their careers overlapped in Seattle, but only in 2000.

DANA POINT, Calif. -- The Yankees are interested enough in centerfielder Mike Cameron to have asked Alex Rodriguez for his thoughts. A-Rod and Cameron were teammates with the Mariners from 2000-2002. There should be no knock on Cameron, who played well with the Mets before requesting a trade following the Mets signing of Carlos Beltran after the 2004 season. Cameron spent 2008 with Milwaukee, which wisely picked up his $10 million option but is probably open to trading him in the right deal. The New York Post suggested the Yankees could trade Melky Cabrera for Cameron. It may take more than that, however, after Cabrera slipped last year. Pitcher Ian Kennedy, whose stock fell even more than Cabrera's, might interest Milwaukee, which will need to replenish its rotation with the potential defections of stars CC Sabathia and Ben Sheets.
