The Indians are among teams interested in star free-agent second Orlando Hudson, SI.com has learned.

The Mets and Yankees are among other teams to have shown interest in Hudson, who is said to be seeking $50 million over five years. The Diamondbacks people loved him but aren't in the derby due to the pricetag.
The Dodgers are another team that may investigate the second-base market but they have several other more pressing positions to deal with now.
The Mets might want to move Luis Castillo before making a serious run at Hudson, while the Yankees might have to consider some rejiggering as well, since they currently have the talented Robinson Cano at second base. While they could consider moving Cano to first base, the more likely scenario would be to trade Cano, either for a centerfielder (how about David DeJesus, who may be expendable now that the Royals have Coco Crisp) or a pitcher.

I would love to jettison Cano, and then sign Hudson. We can maybe turn Cano into a couple of prospects to replace the ones we lose if we sign one of the big three FA's. WHile we are at it, maybe we can do the same with Damon.

Nope...Yankees need to keep Cano. Still young, locked up for several more years, and lots of upside. He's not a first baseman either...his arm is too strong to waste there. Plus, if he really does have focus issues at 2B, what will happen at 1B? Yanks have plenty of guys for CF as well, so don't go there. Pitching, pitching, and more pitching, please.

This is why Yanks should have never gave a deal to Cano last spring. Sources say they were debating between lokcing up Wang or Cano and after watching Cano dog it this year it seems they made the wrong call. Had Cano not had a deal in place I could see the Yanks trading him away and then signing Hudson. With the contract though it is unlikely they trade him.

so...anyone else think Hudson should go to Clevland...he is pretty much Willy Mays Hayes, ha ha ha..charismatic and awesome, we miss him in Toronto.

I wouldn't call the Yankees liars, but maybe fudgers, pervaricators, something of that order. They have made a cottage industry of saying they're not interested in this or that guy, then swooping in and stealing them under the noses of their former team. I remember the Christmas Eve heist of three years ago when, seemingly totally indifferent to Johnny Damon for weeks, signed him to big four year contract as the Chief Idiot spurned his Red Sox for more money and fame and WS rings, so he said. Hey Johnny, how's that fame and those WS rings working out for you. Could you show us those rings sometime?
