<quoted-text>speaking of trying to trade 2nd basemen how is paying fat Robinson Canoli 10 million a year for the next 3 years plus $14 and $15 million dollar option years after that working out? Torre may take him off your hands but you'll have to take matt kemp back, good luck with that.</quoted-text>

And now you're comparing the real fat Castillo, to Cano?? I'm no Cano fan at all (mistake locking him up), but talk about fat, look at the size of Castillo's face. As for that Kemp/Cano trade, I think that's fine as long as we can somehow get Matsui off our hands. Kemp is an Alex Rios type player, it'll take him a few years to find his power stroke, and plus he's NOT a CF, just like Swisher isn't!

Sure lets go ahead and put one of the biggest base stealing threats in baseball on someone else's team.Yes he blows in September, but do you think the Yankees should deal A-Rod because he sucks in October????Probably not.Fact is Reyes is NOT a guy that you trade to anybody.Stop saying the Mets should trade him because you want him on your team.

I wish you guys hadn't stopped. That was fun. A little after the fact, but what ever happened to the shift key? It totally makes letters bigger on demand -- a great way to start a sentence.

I think the Mets' closer talk is somewhat overrated. If Heilman (or whoever) keeps hanging underhand change-ups and obliterating leads that a good closer would protect. Man I wish Sanchez hadn't gotten hungry that one night...or gotten into that cab.

Maybe Benitez need a job...

LAS VEGAS -- The Mets' opening offer for star free-agent closer Francisco Rodriguez was for two years at $12 million plus a makeable vesting option for a third year, people familiar with the talks tell SI.com.

Rodriguez is considered the Mets' top choice to replace injured closer Billy Wagner. They may consider raising their offer at some point. It isn't expected Rodriguez will jump at the first offer. The Mets are meeting this afternoon with two more closing options, Brian Fuentes and Trevor Hoffman, and are thought to be weighing whether to make an offer for Fuentes. Mets GM Omar Minaya has in the past made simultaneous offers with the understanding that whichever player agrees first would have a deal.

It appears Kerry Wood, another star free agent closer, is on the backburner due to his history of injuries.
