Listen, K-Rod had how many blown saves last year? (don't know the exact but I'm thinking 6-7) Mo had what....1!?!?! He walked 34 compared to Mo's 6?!?! He pitched only one inning in almost all the games he's pitched with a 2 run lead, velocity is down as well as his stats and he's only 26. His mechanics are a max-effort type and he's destined to get hurt before 30. Don't get me wrong, the guys you mentioned are good, but Mo is consistant every year and if you ask the real fans of baseball (not you bandwagon ppl) they would definitely take Mo even at his age. And he basically has one pitch!!! I want to see the closers you mentioned do what they're doing till they're 40, then IF they come close....come talk to me.

Objectively, Ellsbury is better than what the Yanks have, but he's not a stud by any means.
On the other hand, Rivera, I wouldn't for a second take any closer in baseball right now over him. As Sux fans, you always think your players are better...I'm sure you think Lugo is a better SS than DJ too right? Oh, and name the 5 or 6 closers that you think are better than Mo.
Lemme guess, you've been watching baseball since 2004 right?

"Mariano Rivera is washed up" - You're a TOOL!

If you rather have Papelpussy than Mo, you have absolutely no idea about baseball. Ellsbury is overrated and sucks. How long you been watching baseball....2007??

On the other hand, Cano I can do away with, his attitude stinks, and he's too aggressive at the plate.

Where to begin. 1. Phil Hughes. He was hurt all year last year and if you knew anything about either team you would see how dominate he has been in AFL. Obviously that doesn't show for the Majors but i don't have a doubt that he will shine. 2. Ching meng wang. 19 game winner both years, but last year got hurt running the bases. 3. Joba chamberlin. Out dueld Josh Beckett in Boston THIS YEAR. 4) austin jackson. 5) The yankees have no problem competeing in the Minors. Last i checked we won two minor league titles this year. SO you might want to rethink your comments about boston think realistically about how nasty the yanks are going to be next year. I hope you keep thinking that we will be in your shadows for years to come. That isn't the case at all, and this year when the yankees are healthy we will dominate and Boston is going to again look like chumps.

First of all, it's how "dominant" Phil Hughes has been in the AFL. Second, learn to spell your team's pitcher's name - it's CHIEN Ming Wang. Third, you sound exactly like Red Sox fans used to do - bitter and quite pathetically defensive. Finally, whatever happens next year, it's been fun watching Yankees fans squirm these last few years. Classy fans stay class through good and bad. It's the insecure ones that show how un-classy they are. You've had a taste of your own medicine and, not surprisingly, you can't take it.

LAS VEGAS -- The Yankees are prepared to top the Braves' reported $60 million four-year offer to star free-agent pitcher A.J. Burnett, according to people familiar with their thinking.

While the Yankees had been reluctant to give Burnett the full-fledged five-year deal he seeks,. they seem likely to offer a four-year deal for about $64 million. Burnett is being purused by the Jays, Red Sox, Orioles and Nationals as well.
