<quoted-text>Agreed. Manny wasn't exactly a cancer while he produced HoF numbers for the Red Sox for 7 years and lef them to two championships - and don't let silly statements by people like Youkilis mask this fact - yes, it's 25 guys and a team sport, but the Red Sox don't win either of those World Series without Manny Ramirez.Contrary to the popular nonsense by columnists for the last 5 months or so, Manny was no "clubhouse cancer". In actuality, his team mates loved the guy (with the notable exception of Curt Schilling). Yes, they grew tired of the circus atmosphere and answering stupid questions for the last 2 months he was there, but he's not the brooding jackass team mates hate such as Barry Bonds or Jeff Kent.</quoted-text>

Amen,
The guy came into LA and hit .396 w/17hr's and led the Dodgers to the playoffs, not to mention killing the Cubs by himself.
Even at 40 he will be better than most hitters in the league. He will be 10 times better than the great edgar martinez.
He's no cancer. He's the best right handed hitter in the last 40 years. The guy hits like a machine and gives protection to any 3 hitter he hits behind. Look at Ortiz' numbers after manny left. I don't care how good youkoulis (cry baby) is, other teams let youkoulis beat them and didn't let ortiz beat them. Just think of the numbers arod would put up if manny hit behind him.

Damon first, then possibly Manny and Lowe? Come on, are the Yanks going to give Schilling a call next? I hate every single Red Sox and i STILL don't think of Damon as a Yankee. He's still an idiot red sox in my eyes.

BUT, if Manny batted behind Arod you have the most lethal 1-2 punch in baseball and Arod would have a huge year. I would bite my tongue and cheer for all the home runs they would hit.

i only have one thing to say, the Yankees better and i mean better sign Manny, He's top 5 in offense maybe 3, but with no doubt he's number 1 with heart, nothing fazes him. If you want to depend on someone depend on manny. He consistently proves it. He's Dr. Clutch. He has the experience and does not believe in pressure and when he comes to New York He's like Jordan and Reggie Miller. He kills in Yankee Stadium and He has Washington Heights supporting him, this is his home(N.Y.) away from home(D.R.). As far as long term contract I wouldn't doubt he'll slow down. He's 36 and I'll have him DH 'til he's 42 maybe 45. Let's not forget about the Julio Franco49, craig biggio41, ruben sierra, Gallarraga, pete rose at 45. I'll give him a three to six year contract without question. i wouldn't be more obstimistic of championships! Please Yankees don't get politcal or religious on me, don't think of manny being manny but manny being yankee.

yes I enjoy soccer needs to go check his facts. Manny has slowed doen every year for the last 4 years minus his time in LA.

He doesn't care about winning. He cares about money.

I am LOL at how stupid Yankee fans are. Red Sox fans don't want anything to do with ex Yankee players. In fact they all scream every time someone brings up a name like Andy Pettitte but Yankee fans want anyone that used to wear a red sox hat.

How pathetic.

LAS VEGAS -- Yankees co-owner Hank Steinbrenner is said by people close to him to want Manny Ramirez in pinstripes. Unlike his father, who dreaded dreadlocks, Steinbrenner the junior is said by a Yankees person "not to give a (hoot) about his hair.''

Just because the Yankees are about to sign CC Sabathia and are trying hard for two more great free-agent pitchers doesn't mean they're ignoring the offensive end of things. With about $160 million going to Sabathia, Mark Teixeira is all but out of the Yankees' picture. But even if they sign three free-agent pitches -- and if they don't get either Derek Lowe or A.J. Burnett, with Ben Sheets next on the radar -- the Yankees are mulling a run at Ramirez.

The Dodgers have been pursuing Ramirez, and if the Angels miss out on Teixeira, they might join the Manny fray as well.
