sorry La, but fuentes is going to get 3 years 30-33 mill (thank you kerry wood). Im pretty sure my cardinals are going to unfortunately give it to him. Im not saying i wouldnt want him on my team but not for 30mill. the cards have had a man crush on him since before the trade deadline last year, but didnt want to give up any prospects to get him and then have to pay him FA money too.

Now F@%$ing way he gets 11mil a year. Frankie only got that much money because New Yorker's never get to see him pitch and only see the box score. The truth is Fuentes will probably get 5-6mil a year but he's better than Frankie. Frankie will be getting booed out of New York half way through the season. Believe me I live in Anaheim and watched him pitch for years. He only got that many saves because outside of the playoffs the Angels have excellent defensive players and they had a weak offense until Tex got picked up. He is half the pitcher he was from a few years ago. Wait and watch Mets fans. You got about 20 blown saves coming your way. I'm actually surprised you guys signed him. Don't you think if he was that good the Angels would've made some attempt to keep him. The Angels owner has a lot more money than the Mets owner. Look it up. The truth sometimes hurts.

The man speaks the truth. I am a Frankie fan but he is not even the 4th best closer in baseball. I put Revera, Pappelbon, Soria, Nathan, and even Trevor Hoffman ahead of him.

A three-time All-Star as a closer, and Fuentes is not closer material? C'mon.

He's not in the elite group like K-Rod or Mariano, but Fuentes is in the top 10 for closers. Take out one horrible four-game stretch in the middle of 2007, and he's been great for Colorado. Had he not lost his job because of that one bad stretch, he'd have four straight 30-save seasons.

Yeah, he'll make you sweat through some of his saves, but he's pretty dependable.

Here is what is going on...
-apparently, Teixeira is going to get around $200 million over 8 or so years, so in the end CC will not get the most money this off season.

-Assuming Johan Santana takes the option for the seventh year of his contract with the Mets, the CC deal and the Johan deal are very similar money.

-the reliever market is getting hot. Kerry Wood is going to Cleveland and the other relievers are beginning to get a lot of attention after K-rod signed. The reason for all of this is because more teams with smaller budgets have determined that they can be in the reliever mix after the minimal amount of money the Mets signed K-rod for.

-The main competition the Yankees have in the Lowe market are the Phillies. If it were me, I would sign Sheets or Perez over Lowe because of money and age respectively.

-If you ask me, Sheets will be the steel of the year.

-There are still a bunch of guys who really have no team to go to and may need to take small, perhaps 1 year, deals. There are a bunch of outfielders that can hit but don't field well like Abreu, Pat Burrell, Raul Ibanez and Adam Dunn are all similar players who have no where to go at this point. The $15 million deals are no longer available for that kind of player.

LAS VEGAS -- The Cardinals, Tigers, Brewers and Angels are among the teams talking to free-agent closer Brian Fuentes. The Brewers were hoping to get CC Sabathia but now that they haven't, they are starting to explore other options.

Fuentes is likely to get a three-year deal for about $11 million a year, which isn't that different from the three-year, $37 million deal the Mets gave Francisco Rodriguez earlier this week. K-Rod's departure leaves the Angels without a closer. Fuentes, a three-time All-Star who saved at least 20 games each of the past four seasons for the Rockies, could fill that need.
