Well, ya know there is a way Andy could be sure and play at least once in the new stadium and not sign with the Yankees. Imagine that...a Subway series with Andy wearing the blue and orange! I'd love to see the look on Boss George's face if that happened!

<quoted-text>I don't know about Holiday. First off, he may just be a product of a hitters ballpark in Colorado, but we will find out the truth this year in Oakland. Secondly, he's a LF and I don't think he's ever played CF (but i may be wrong about that). I guess working with a platoon of Melky and Gardner wouldn't be too bad considering the quality of offense coming from the rest of the lineup. But whats really going to happen is the A's will struggle and Beane will look for young pitching in exchange for Holiday. So, you have to figure that if the Yanks do start the season with a platoon in CF and aren't happy with it midway through season (assuming holiday proves he's not just a product of Colorado), they will have to be prepared to put together a nice package for him.Jeter, ARod, Tex/Manny, and Holiday does look a nice 2-5 though.</quoted-text>

Congrats on #500...I understand they have him penciled in but, .285, 9 hr, 69 rbi in AA Trenton doesn't really project to be much better then Melky Cabrera (check his AA stats).
I know they have him penciled in, but Yankees fans have seen plenty of guys who were "penciled in", that either get traded or never make it.

I don't know about Baldelli. It's more about his name then his production. His numbers are pedestrian at best, and he's only played a full season one time in his career. He's never hit more then 16 HR's, strikes out ALOT, doesn't walk a lot, if they diagnosed his disease that???s great...but I just think it's more about his name then about actual production and NY isn't the place for him to test if he's a reasonable CF in the AL East.

Sox 04-07...are those the 2 years you followed the Sox? Like most of Red Sox nation? See the problem is, the majority (not all, obviously...but A LOT) of Sox fans didn't follow Boston baseball until they won the series...now, they talk as if they know anything about the game. The Yanks miss the playoffs one time and ignorant bandwagon fans use it as an insult.
It's just like the Pats. Before they started their dynasty, they NEVER sold out a game. Now, everyone acts like they're diehard. Even this year, when Brady went down and Cassel struggled in the beginning fans booed, left early or didn't show up at all. But now, they're selling out once again. It's sad really...have some respect.
Guys, it's easy to root for a team when they win...try it when they lose.

The Yankees have been waiting for weeks for an answer from Andy Pettitte regarding their $10 million offer for 2009, and they still expect Pettitte to say yes.

The Yankees also have been investigating Ben Sheets' medical records and are mulling a return to negotiations with Derek Lowe, but those two options remain backup plans. The Yankees still have not set a deadline on Pettitte -- though they're expecting an answer before Christmas next week.

And although they've heard rumors about a $36 million, three-year offer from elsewhere for Pettitte, the Yankees still believe he's coming back. While Pettitte was 14-14 with a respectable 4.54 ERA overall, his year began and ended badly. It started in spring with a news conference to explain his HGH usage and ended with a 4-7 second half in which he had a 5.35 ERA and .302 batting average against. Maybe they think he owes them, and maybe he does.

He also has said he wants to pitch in the new Yankee Stadium.

If Pettitte does say yes, the Yankees will save some money on the final starter, since Sheets and Lowe would cost more -- and that could enhance their chances to add a big bat, meaning either Mark Teixeira or Manny Ramirez.
