8 young would be a much better player in the minnesota lineup than with these other clubs plus he would (1) have a much better chance of making the playoffs consistently, and (2) love playing in the twins new outdoor, downtown ballpark slated to open in 2010. 3696334

7 Why does Heyman keep pushing Ramirez as a savior. This guy is a quiter, a lofer and a dispictable person. He and he agent, Boras, should have been suspended after what they pulled last season with the RedSux. Why would any team trust this bum on anything but a 1 year deal. 5 Young isn't much of an upgrade defensively, either. If you're going to add a player at short and slide Jeter to second or the outfield, Michael Young is not that guy, not for $16 million a year. Have you seen his PMR and UZR? Have you see what he does offensively outside his home park, a notorious hitter's paradise? Yikes. 3691366

2 We love him here in Dallas.. but there is a guy sitting in OKC waiting for him to move over to Third Base. I don't know what kind of stock is in Young, but I hope it's alot! I could just be bias b/c we don't want to see him ago. But much like any other household name the Rangers make us fall in love with, Jon Daniels will trade them away for busted down prospects that don't pan out. I guess it was nice knowing that we had Michael Young. Just for the record, they (the front office) said that Pudge was regressing.... 3685094

1 I know Young is a Rangers icon and the face of the franchise, but any team willing to trade prospects and take on his albatross of a contract should really be institutionalized. Again, Rangers fans will contest that he is their star, but he has continually regressed the last few years and one could only assume that will be the trend over the next 5 years. Why would a different team pay $16 million/year for a guy they didn't develop and will have no position to play in a few years. He'll basically become the 2008 version of Jeff Kent. 3684990

The Mets, Dodgers and Twins are among teams to have inquired about Rangers star shortstop Michael Young. Although, the Rangers don't seem anxious to trade him and there isn't any evidence talks ever got serious. Plus, Young has a no-trade clause through 2009 in his contract, which could diminish his chances to be dealt even more. The contract calls for Young to be paid $80 million in total, or $16 million a year through 2013. The Dodgers presumably were looking into Young as a long-shot candidate in case Rafael Furcal went elsewhere (and as of yesterday it appeared likely Furcal would wind up back with the Braves, though the Dodgers were still talking to Furcal's agent). However, the price would seem to be high for the Dodgers, who offered just more than half that figure, $45 million, to Manny Ramirez, who helped carry them to the playoffs after he came over from Boston last summer. The Mets were investigating Young to play second base in case they could find a taker for Luis Castillo, which is an extreme long shot. The Mets also wouldn't be anxious to take on that sort of salary, especially for someone who doesn't pitch.
