<quoted-text>How is Boras a piece of garbage and destroying baseball? You idiots who actually believe this should have your posting privelages taken away. These BILLION dollar owners can afford to pay these contracts b.c. MILLIONS fans pay THOUSANDS of dollars to watch the players play, not to watch the owners own. I'm so sick of **** blaming Boras. It takes 2 parties to agree on a contract, not Boras alone. If I were a player, I'd hire Boras in a heartbeat b.c. he gets market value. The salaries for players on average is STILL under market value as a whole, considering the revenue these PLAYERS generate in the game.

You don't pay $40 a seat because of the agents like Boras. Are you really that naive?

His job is to get the player as much money as the owners are willing to pay. He'd be doing a disservice to his client if he did anything less. This is what he's hired for.

Teams charge $40 a seat because people will pay it. They are not charitable organizations. They exist to market a product and make a profit from it. If they charged $40 a seat and people stopped showing up for the games, they would lower the prices. Again, supply and demand. They will charge as much as they can while as long as the customer will still pay it.

If that means the parks are filled with rich people and corporate yahoos and the average guy can't take his kids to a game, it's a shame, yes, but again, the owners are not running a charitable foundation. They are in it to make money, and it makes no difference to them who bought the seat, as long as it's paid for.

You want someone to blame as being greedy for the prices, but there isn't anyone. Agents are hired to get their clients more money. Owners usually have stockholders and boards they are responsible to that want to see a profit. Most of the obscene amount of revenue comes from advertising, but those shelling out all that money to get their product advertised to all of the people who see a game, are again, only doing their job. No one is to blame, everyone is doing their job, and it's just the reality of the situation.

Not really. You simply don't understand economics apparently. If paying a guy $23 million a year is going to generate $30 million a year (hypothetically) for your club in increased ticket sales, advertising, playoff revenue, etc... then it's a good business decision and yes, it's worth the investment.

Even removing the above from the equation, if a billionaire owner wants to win badly enough that he is willing to lose a few million dollars to do it, then it simply becomes a case of supply and demand. Your services are worth exactly what the highest bidder is willing to pay you for them. This is true whether you are a garbageman, a doctor or a baseball player. If very few people in the world were willing to collect garbage for a living, the salary for performing the job would go way up. It's simple supply and demand.

<quoted-text>Scot Boras is a piece of garbage and is singlehandedly destroying baseball. As a huge Angel fan who celebrated Tex's arrival I am at the point where I could care less about him coming back over all of this. Maybe it is the teacher in me, but I don't think 8 years 160 million is much different than 7 years 150 million or whatever obscene amounts they are offering him.</quoted-text>

Like I said yesterday its time for Texeria to **** or get off the pot. Enough is enough and we all know what his jersey is going to say next year BOSTON right accross the chest. The Red Sox offer is the best on the table and even if it wasn't would you want to play in Baltimore for the Orioles or those sorry ****'d Nationals. Texeria is going to get paid large by the Red Sox and be on a team that will be in the top 5 during his whole contract with a good shot at winning a title each and every year. So Mr Boras and Mr Henry we are all sick of this game. Sign the dang paper work and let's move on to getting Veritek's contract done and oh ya welcome back to Boston Derrick Lowe that will be a done deal shortly there after.

In response to the Angels' seemingly abrupt decision to drop out of the Mark Teixeira derby, agent Scott Boras issued a statement re-affirming that Teixeira's interest in the Angels and suggesting that the 28-year-old slugger hasn't quite closed the door on the Angels.

"Mark Teixeira enjoyed his time with the Angels and was an integral part of their success last season," Boras wrote in his statement. "His interest in returning to the club has been sincere, real and continues to be one of his earnest priorities throughout this off-season."

Boras' remark that his interest "continues'' suggests that Teixeira hasn't given up on the Angels. However, the Angels, in announcing that they were withdrawing their offer Sunday afternoon, stressed that they were also bowing out of the race for Teixeira. Their stance differed from the Red Sox, which cryptically suggested they weren't "going to be a factor,'' but appears to have remain interested in signing the star free agent.

Boras' statement in response to the Angels' announcement may have been triggered by a suggestion in an Internet report on Yahoo! that suggested Angels' owner Arte Moreno was dropping out over concerns he was being used and that Moreno was beginning to feel Teixeira didn't have a sincere interest in remaining an Angel.

Boras also wrote in his statement, "Clubs are very aware -- in particular the Angels -- participation in the free-agent process does not signal lack of interest in signing with the club. Case in point, the Angels signed two great free agent players who engaged in the mechanism, receiving and exchanging offers with multiple clubs, while negotiating with the Angels. Therefore, we are assuming that reasons other than Teixeira's interest in returning to the Angels were the driving factor."

The Angels are believed to have made an eight-year offer for in excess of $160 million. The Red Sox, Yankees, Nationals and Orioles are believed to be clubs remaining in the Teixeira sweepstakes.
