Scoscia is a great influence on the players in the locker room along with making some very good decisions during the games. Nobody is perfect, though, I will take Mike over any other manager in baseball. Teams need a manager to keep sanity in the locker room for the longest regular season in any sport. Unfortunately, I don't think there is a manager out there who could have brought the Angels bats out of the postseason deep freeze. That is entirely on the players. And please get facts straight. The year the Angels won the Series, they didn't sweep the Yankees, they lost game 1. The year they swept the Yankees, they lost to the White Sox in the ALCS.

Oakland? Beane? That figures...U tard! Didn't Balco Labs secretly sell that team when Seco & Mac left... they have been a bust ever since? Or maybe because your boy Beane is as worthless in the office as he was on the field. 219 career BA & the all impressive 3 HR's that he hit in 8 years was even better.

It's pretty pathetic that Yanks have been unable to purchase a title.
Yanks have been irrelevant now for 8 years.

Mike Scioscia, already the longest-tenured manager in the American League, is going to be with the Angels a lot longer. The club has signed him to a multiyear extension beyond his previous deal that would have taken him through 2010.

"We're excited having him on board for a few more years,'' Angels general manager Tony Reagins said. "We've talked about it for some time, and we thought it was important. From a stability standpoint, we thought it was a very positive thing.''

Scioscia's previous deal ran through 2009, with a club option for 2010. A report on Yahoo.com said the new contract is believed to run at least through 2012, but Reagins called it only a "longterm'' deal and didn't give any specifics.

Scioscia, 803-655 overall in nine seasons, has established himself as one of the best managers in baseball. His Angels teams have reached the playoffs in five of the past seven years, including 2002 when they won the World Series. Scioscia also won two World series as the catcher for the Dodgers.

Angels owner Arte Moreno told SI.com this summer they he intended to sign Scioscia to a very long deal.
