After trying for Randy Wolf and flirting with all-time greats Pedro Martinez and Curt Schilling, the Diamondbacks seem to be focusing now on free-agent hurler Jon Garland.
Arizona's hoping to fortify its already-strong rotation with another solid addition. The D-backs originally fancied Martinez and Schilling (a former Diamondbacks star), but in this slow market, Arizona is realizing it may be able to afford a younger guy like the 29-year-old Garland, who went 14-8 with a 4.90 ERA as an Angel last season.
Wolf, who turned down about $13 million over two years from Arizona, appears more likely to go back home to Los Angeles.
