Wolf would be a good addition- I liked him when he was in LA. An innings eater with a decent ERA, not a No. 1 starter, but steady. I, too, think the Dodgers should take a flyer and sign Sheets, although I can understand why Ned would be reluctant to sign another pitcher with a health history (see Jason Schmidt). And, of course, the Dodgers WILL sign Manny once Boras comes to his senses.

as a dodger fan i agree with the direction of the team. we should of done it 2 years ago without albatross deals for schmidt 3yr./51mil. and jones 2yr./36 mil and a season pass to hometown buffet. play the kids(ethier, kemp, loney, martin, billingsly, kershaw, broxton etc..,) and plug in a couple of vets (wolf?,blake, furcal) to play until the kids(de jesus jr, mcdonald etc..,) on the farm are ready. overspending on free agents every year would turn us into a mercenary type team like the yankees are now, a overpriced team that is doomed to fail. if you remember the yankees won while the core of the team was homegrown 1996-2001? since then nothing.

LOL @ 315Livin!!! You're right, i think 2 year $40 million plus incentives sounds better, but if they offer that, he'll probably take LA's offer because theirs is guaranteed money!! Boras and Ramirez both need to realize we are in a recession and accept the Mets offer once they finally do offer it!!

Both pitchers were being pursued by both NL West teams.

Wolf, a native of Canoga Park, a Los Angeles suburb, appears fairly likely to return for a one-year deal. The Mets also showed some interest but appear focused on Oliver Perez.

Wolf might have some regrets if he does sign a one-year contract, as he was reported to have turned down a lucrative three-year offer from the incumbent Astros that was reported to be anywhere between $22 million and $29 million -- though he took less to pitch for L.A. two years ago, as well.

Wolf went 12-12 with a 4.30 ERA for the Padres and Astros last year.
