The Giants and Twins were among teams to watch Joe Crede at his workout yesterday. Those two ballclubs have to be considered the favorites to sign Crede, who hit .248 with 17 home runs and 55 RBIs in a year in which he had some back trouble.

Word is, Crede impressed at the workout. The third basemen has battled back problems for the last two seasons. When healthy, he provides some pop at the plate and a stellar glove at third base. Crede's best season came in 2006, when he hit .283 with 30 homers and 94 RBIs.
