Juan Uribe gave the White Sox the final two outs of the 1-0 Game Four World Series victory! He will always be a MAJOR Sox hero in my mind! Both of those plays were 'play of the week' highlight caliber. and doing them to clinch the World Series...somebody show me another shortstop with that kind of history. bet you can't.

As a lifelong White Sox fan, I celebrated when I heard the good news that the Giants had signed Juan, because it means that Sox GM Kenny Williams can't have another brain fart like he had last year by bringing him back to Chicago's south side one more time! I can't think of a batter in baseball over the past 25 years who drove me more nuts than Uribe. Every pitch he swings from the heels for the fences and has a resulting horrible OBP.

He's only 29. That's awful young to be signed by the Giants.

The Giants used to have a player named Jose Uribe in the late 80's and early 90's, who tragically died a couple of years ago. He was definitely a fan favorite. Wonder if the old "Oooh-ReeBay" chants you'd hear at Candlestick will start up again if he makes the team.

Juan Uribe has a minor league deal to go to the Giants, SI.com has learned.

It's believed Uribe would make about $1 million if he makes the team.

The infielder played 110 games with the White Sox last season, batting .247 with seven home runs and 40 RBIs. He primarily played second and third base in 2008, but has extensive experience at shortstop.
