Justin Verlander signed a one-year deal for $3.675 million, avoiding arbitration, SI.com has learned.
Verlander was asking for $4.15 million in arbitration, while the Tigers were offering $3.2 million.
The 25-year-old hurler racked up 35 wins and a no-hitter in his first two major-league seasons, but he struggled mightily in 2008, going 11-17 with a 4.84 ERA.
