The Mets have signed veteran infielder Jose Valentin, who resurrected his career once already with that team and will try to do it again. Valentin, who didn't play last year, will be paid $800,000 if he's on the big-league team.
Valentin is beloved by the Mets' front office and was considered an excellent influence on the team's young stars, including superstar shortstop Jose Reyes.
