Right-hander Ervin Santana has signed a four-year, $30 million deal with the Angels, SI.com has learned.

The deal also includes an option year that would bump the contract's value to $42 million if it is picked up, as first reported by WFAN's Sweeny Murti.

Santana, who avoided arbitration with the extension, is a key part of one of baseball's best young rotations, if not its best rotation. The Angels surely would like to get ace John Lackey signed to an extension, as well.

Santana, 26, went 16-7 with a 3.49 ERA last year, striking out a career-high 214 in 219 innings with only 47 walks, when he made the All-Star team and executed a terrific comeback. He is 51-37 lifetime, all with the Angels.
