I can't wait to see Crede come up in a big run situation and get the big hit to beat the Sux. It would be even better if it happens quite a few times this upcoming season!! I really don't care what team he signs with....just beat the SUX BABY!!!

How many games did you watch last year. Get a grip! He waits for the pitchers to get ripped and put us behind and he plays favorietes(ie) Punto. I like Punto as a sub-but given every opportunity-its to much pressure. He didn't give Delmon much of a chance-without going public he was unhappy-not neccesarily the way to handle a young player. Gardy is ;lucky he is surrounded by good coaches.

I don't know how likely that'll be, but this does seem like a good deal. Crede's a much safer chance than the Lamb/Everett/ experiments. Everything works out right and he's the last little bit they need to win the division; if not, they go back to the platoon that brought them within a game of the playoffs last year. It's hard to lose in that situation.

At least they finally came out of hibernation and made a move. If his back flares up, I won't hate em for it (The Twinks). At least they tried to do something instead of nothing....It's definatly better than the Mike Lamb signing last year and they have experienced youth to back up the position. . . . Good deal.

It's a low risk move, we can always go back to the platoon of Buscher/Harris if his back flares up. They tried to get him as cheap as possible, using his injury history to lower his price, but power commands salary (which is why the Twins are historically a lower power hitting team). Better than trading a pitcher for Beltre, paying him a bundle and watching him stink like he did when SEA signed him. Plus, if he's got a no-trade to MIN, nuff said.

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Free agent third baseman Joe Crede's closing in on a deal with the Twins, SI.com has learned.

The lifelong White Sox player hit .248 with 17 home runs and 55 RBIs this past year, when he was hampered by a back injury (but still made the AL All-Star team). Crede, 30, has 125 career home runs.

He starred on the 2005 World Series title team, but has had back trouble at different times in his career.

The Twins had been looking at a platoon situation at third base.

It isn't known how much Crede's deal will be worth, but it is expected to be incentive-laden. Minnesota press has reported that's it's likely to top out at $7 million, including incentives.
