Welker can make a Pro Bowl when he shows me that he can catch a ball over the middle or catch a ball in traffic without falling to the ground. 100+ yards receiving on wide-open outs, curls, and screen passes is not as impressive as someone that can create separation and run after the catch, and fights for the extra yardage.

'11 cowboys? i'm sorry but that's a joke. You can't sit there and honestly say that Ken Hamlin deserved to be there over Jermaine Phillips, Or that Flozell Adams deserved it more than Bryant McKinney who's helped both Chester Taylor and Adrian Peterson break out, and Terence Newman over Charles Woodson?!?! That's not even talking about Leonard Davis who's borderline. '

Hamlin and Adams don't deserve to be there...but the rest do and Ellis deserves to be there as well...so, it shouldn't be 11, it should be 10...if you guys want to complain about Woodson being there, maybe take out the VERY overrated Al Harris and put Woodson in there...less we forget how abused Harris got against the Cowboys (his 1 INT was a fact of fortune with TO gift wrapping it and delivering it...)

Mario Williams should be there instead of Jason Taylor. Can't hate on what Vanden Bosch and Jared Allen have done, but Williams should have gotten in over JT.

Fred Taylor is the most underrated player in the league, and has been for years. The dude has HOF numbers and he been beasting all year. Willie Parker's injury will get him in, but the Steeler myops stuffing the ballot box is the only reason he got in.

Keith Bulluck is another guy who got snubbed AGAIN. When will people realize that these 3-4 OLB's that rack up sacks (James Harrison and Shawne Merriman) are usually one-dimensional.

Joe Thomas or Michael Roos should have gotten Odgen's spot. They are the two best young OT's in the game.

Willis racked up "a bunch" of tackles? He's on pace to break the single season tackle record. And if all the other positions seem to be based on stats (e.g. sacks, INTs), then why isn't the leage-leader in tackles not deserving of the probowl?

And what does Perlof mean when he says the niners D wasn't hard to run on? That actually shows how good Willis is. If a team has a bad def line, then the opposing offense should be able to get a block on linebackers. Yet Willis is seemingly in on every play, just as Perlof says Nick Barnett is. If a player shines on a cruddy team, that's even more impressive than a player that's surrounded by talent.

You can say there's other linebackers that got snubbed, but you can't say they're necessarily more deserving than Willis.

can we step back from the mario williams question about his pro-bowl snub to a bigger issue for which he could be the poster child...
and that issue is judging a player by what he does in his first few games in the league. it's nuts. bush started off fast and mario didn't and the texans were the target of a bunch of knee-jerk crap talk. personally, I watched m.w. get shut down by acc tackles that will never sniff the field in the nfl and I thought it was a questionable pick before he even started work as a pro. the texans are putting pieces together that will make for a nasty "d" in the next couple of years and they got the ball rolling via a great early draft last year.

Sure Welker had a great year? But who was he going to knock out in the AFC? Houshmanzadah has 100+ catches, Moss is having one of the best season's in a while, and Edwards and Wayne both have more yards and TD's than Welker. If it were the NFC he would have easily made it.

Colston, Jennings, and Galloway all have a case to be the NFC WR over Donald Driver.

Yes Welker had a great season, but there were great seasons by a lot of WR's in the AFC? Who is he going to supplant? Houshmanzadah has 100+ catches, Moss has been on a tear, and Edwards and Wayne have more yards and TD's than Welker. If he played for the AFC he would of been a lock.

No dolphin deserves one? Stick that where the sun doesn't shine. Taylor has 10 sacks for a very wounded defense that has to rely on a player of his caliber to keep them in games. Check your stats the defense may have more holes than swiss cheese but the fins have lost six games this year by three points. They haven't been able to rotate him around either due to the injuries. Sports Writers suck!

By the time players bail with minor injuries, anyone who's still upright gets to go to Honolulu. But certain names needed to be on the original list. These 10 guys have me fired up:

Wes Welker, WR, Patriots - Welker deserves serious MVP consideration, let alone a Pro Bowl berth. Just when teams think they have the Patriots stopped, Welker makes a catch and keeps drives going. I'm sure all of New England's opponents voted him in.

Fred Taylor, RB, Jaguars - Finally, Taylor was ready to get the Pro Bowl monkey off his back. And they stiffed him, even though he ranks sixth in the NFL with 1,091 rushing yards and averages 5.1 yards per carry. Joseph Addai is OK, but the Colts' offensive machine runs with or without him.

Gary Brackett, LB, Colts - Brackett has four interceptions and is the leader of the second-best defense in the NFL.

Kellen Winslow, TE, Browns - Winslow's numbers are identical to Tony Gonzalez' (both have 971 yards and five touchdowns), but Winslow has made a bigger impact on a team that's actually going to the playoffs.

Mario Williams, DE, Texans - Williams ranks second in the NFL with 13.5 sacks. I understand Jason Taylor gets in on reputation, but no Dolphin belong on this list.

Derrick Brooks, LB, Buccaneers - People forget about Brooks because he's old, but he, and teammate Barrett Ruud have been great this year and one of the two deserved the nod. Niners rookie Patrick Willis made it for racking up a bunch of tackles, but c'mon, was San Francisco that hard to run on?

Nnamdi Asomugha, CB, Raiders - You don't hear anything about him, because no one throws to him. But he's a bona fide shut-down corner who's probably better than the AFC guys who made it.

Nick Barnett, LB, Packers - The Packers' defense is great and every time you watch them you hear Barnett's name seemingly every play.

Charles Woodson, CB, Packers - Like Barnett, Woodson deserves a ton of credit for Green Bay's defensive success.

Plaxico Burress, WR, Giants - His numbers are below other receivers because he's been limited by an ankle injury. But he's carried the Giants offensively and had a much bigger impact on the standings than someone like St. Louis' Torry Holt or Arizona's Larry Fitzgerald. The Saints' Marques Colston deserves consideration as well.
