The Patriots have made several moves this offseason to address their lack of receivers, but I don't think they've built one of the top five WR corps in the NFL. Here is my list. Let me know what you think:
- Cincinnati - Chad Johnson, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Chris Henry - Henry is suspended for half the season, but Johnson and Houshmandzadeh are good enough to carry this offense.
- Indianapolis - Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Anthony Gonzalez - Lots of early buzz on Gonzalez, the rookie out of Ohio State, who should excel in the Brandon Stokley role.
- Arizona - Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald, Bryant Johnson - This group should get better as Matt Leinart becomes more comfortable.
- Detroit - Roy Williams, Mike Furrey, Calvin Johnson - This may seem high, but Williams is a Pro Bolwer and Johnson is going to be special.
- St. Louis - Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce, Drew Bennett - Holt is still one of the best, Bruce is dependable in a complementary role and Bennett will do well here.
- New England - Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Donte' Stallworth, Jabar Gaffney - This unit could move up to top three or fall off the map. It will be interesting to see how Tom Brady spreads the ball around.
- Dallas - Terrell Owens, Terry Glenn, Patrick Crayton - If T.O. has as many drops as last year, this group falls out of the top 10.
- Denver - Javon Walker, Rod Smith, Brandon Marshall, Brandon Stokley - Smith and Stokley are coming off injuries, but at least one of the two should be productive. And Marshall has a lot of upside.
- Carolina - Steve Smith - Yes, there's only one guy here, but he's good enough to carry whoever the Panthers line up on the other side.
- Pittsburgh - Hines Ward, Santonio Holmes, Cedrick Wilson, Nate Washington -- Ward is as solid as any other receiver in the NFL and Holmes is on his way up. The Steeles may open up their offense a bit this year, which would help these wideouts.

NE should be higher. And Detroit should be lower. Cincinnati number one over Indy? I'd say the Colts are number one; they also have Dallas Clark.

Pretty good list... spot on about Zona and Detroit. I think Cincy and Indy should be flipped.. the only team on here I see as way off is the Pats. Moss isn't that guy anymore and stallworth is a decent #2, but all 4 teams you have listed below them have more talent, unless Moss returns to his 02-03 form.

Where are the Saints? Drew Brees throwing to Marques Colston, Robert Meachem, Devery Henderson, and David Patten is better than Pittsburgh, Carolina, Dallas, or Denver.

I agree with WhoDat. Also Oakland has a pretty lethal corp. Although they have no o-line.

You missed the boat. Where the Redskins - Santana Moss, Chris Cooley, Brandon Lloyd, Antwaan Randle El. Add stalwart James Thrash and up-coming Mike Espy and you have a great receiving corp - which is what I thought you were ranking. Not just receiver corps that have good/high rated quarterbacks.

How about the Eagles? Reggie Brown, Kevin Curtis, LJ Smith and Brian Westbrook. I know LJ is a TE but he is more receiver than anything else. Westbrook is one of the most hated running backs to defend because he is so dangerous in the open field.

Better get that prescription check Andrew, the gregman is right. We all know the SI crowd hates the Redskins owner, but don't hate the players. Santana, Cooley, Randle El and Lloyd all they need is a QB that can find them.

I love you putting Steve Smith up there on his own. That's hilarious.
And I'm a diehard Redskin fan who thinks our reciving corps needs to prove something (beside Moss, who rocks) before we can start complaining about their exclusion from this list. If Brandon Lloyd would live up to half his paycheck, I'd be happy.

Come on please, your little comment on T.O. has to be the the dumbest thing you ever wrote. Before you bash him for his drops like the rest of the media, how many TD catches did he have? Where does it put the Cowboys if he has more this year? Its funny you put Carolina up there with just Steve Smith, how many drops did he have last year? How many TD's? Did you even do any research on this subject?

I thought Indy was the easy first place here. Especially with TJ suspended. I think its crazy! Would Indianapolis even be on this list with Reggie Wayne suspended for half the season?

The Patsies should be even higher. Kelly Washington is a talent - and he wasn't even mentioned

Daddy1st, T.O. had 13 TD catches last year; however, he had a recorded 15 drops. If that math adds up it looks like he had more drops than TD's, also 3 of those TD's were against Houston, and another 2 against Atlanta's overrated DB MeAngelo Hall. Besides those two games vs. bad secondarys (sp) he had 8 touchdowns which would drop him from 1st to 11th.

indy and cincy flipped along with st. louis and detroit. the saints should definitely be in there, probably ahead of the pats, who have a completely unproven receiving group. otherwise everythings good

Bushwacked, First and foremost I am not a very big TO fan. But my point is, everybody seems to make a big deal out of all the drops he had and not the TD catches. The TD's make more of an impact than the drops. Which takes me to the other point I was trying to make. TO was not the only big name reciever to drop alot of passes last year but still seemed to catch all the heat over it. And as far as the bad secondarys go, every receiver goes up against them. Its the nature of the game right? Besides you would expect some one like TO to catch three TD's against a poor secondary.

colston sat out 3-4 games last year and still had over 1000yds last season. now with deep threats with henderson, patten, and maybe even copper (and Meachem, if he can prevent the stallworth curse) with brees under center (you had him at #4 for this year listed previously), and then there's reggie in the slot... you got to be on crack not to put them in the top 5. horn didn't play half the season and they still had the top offense

I love how everyone on here gets so biased n wants 2 throw their team in the top 10, as well as doesn't read that its WR's only. So no Te's or RB's. Realistically the top 5 teams r all the top 5 receiving teams, whether its Cincy/Indy or Indy/Cincy. I think 5-20 can all be mix-matched in any order by how well a rookie plays this year. And for the Redskins fans that think they should b in the top 10. All I kept hearing about in the DC news last year was what a bust that Randle El n to some extent Brandon Lloyd were, and of course for a receiver to be good, he needs a quaterback that can actually get him the ball.
