So Bobcaat, if you're on the fence between the Steelers and the Pats for being the best of the decade why not just say that. You made an elaborate attempt at be cynical toward the Patriots and then said they were one of if not the best team based on this up coming year. As much as it is funny and I do mean hearing everyone talk smack about the Pats is funny, why waffle? If you???re a Steelers fan but respect the Pats say that and move on. If you???re a Steelers fan and just want to try and rip into the Pats then you???re just like every other Joe but with a better vocabulary and maybe a little more education.

Nah, Hippy, I'm neither a PAT or Steeler fan. BOTH have a great franchise and I respect both. I'm a Cowboy fan. I'm just SO TIRED of all the childish namecalling. I'd rather not rate them for "decade's best" because arguments could be made for AND against both. I'm simply tired of arguing---I'm MELLOW...Gee, maybe I should swap names with you...

My sympathies to PATs fans. When you're good for long periods it habors and intensifies feeling of dislike and many will grasp at ANYTHING negative or anything that if twisted around could be PERCEIVED as negative. The smacktalk and constant defending and endless debating grow tiresome, and it makes you wonder sometimes if life would be simpler if you just gave up football and took up stamp collecting (You have The Simpsons and Kiss, but no Abraham Lincoln?? You idiot!). It's football, folks, and alot of us simply enjoy the game. The PATs are a GREAT franchise and have alot to be proud of, and like all teams have a few warts. The Steelers have a great franchise as well, but I'd prefer to let time lend perspective.

ALL YOU HATERS: Let me thank you for making us the team of the decade. Yes YOU have helped make us the team of the decade. What defines a team of the decade? A team that all other teams??? circle on their calendar when they come out with the schedule. I bet every one of you haters ???if??? you have the Pats on your schedule have circled that day too. You could loose every other game next year but if you beat the Patriots you would walk away with a sense of accomplishment. The thousands and thousands of post that all you haters put on every article written about the Patriots is a constant reminder how much OUR team gets under your skin. It???s amazing, some of you actually create new profiles with discontent names on them about the Patriots just to show your hate! Another thing that makes us the team of the decade is the fact that (I???m betting) some of you know more players on the Patriots??? team than even your own! The media, the haters, everyone of you outside of us Pats fans remind us every day how much we have gotten under your skin by winning. I???m guessing that if any of your teams had/have won as many rings as we have you would be posting comments for YOUR team and not ours. So once again thank you for showing how New England Patriots is the team of the decade and how you have all made that possible. Have a great day!

Being a Patriot fan all my life I would only let pride get in my way to answer the first question but here goes. To seperate ourselves from the team we love (which New Englanders can't be) and say "how does it look to others?" is almost like disowning your own child if you're a Pat's fan. A Yankees fan, a Jets fan, a Cavs fan would all point and say you've cheated or lied your way to the top. All of which maybe true at least in your eyes, but I will say this.....Being on top ain't too bad of a place to look from....Even when the years pass and we aren't on top...you remind us of the time when we were....for that .....we thank you! As Madonna once said....good press or bad press is still press....That means they're talkin about YOU.....

Awesome morality lesson, Pats54. It's good to know that cheating is perfectly ok as long as there is anecdotal evidence suggesting other teams cheat as well, all coming from from a person no longer affiliated with any team.

Look, I am a die hard member of Steeler Nation but I would have to say that even if the Steelers win the Super Bowl in the 2009 season, I would be hard pressed to put them ahead of the Pats as the team of the decade. Why? Because I still have horrible memories of the 2001 AFC title game, which made Troy Brown into a folk hero, and the 2004 AFC title game, which made Big Ben look like a rookie for one of the few times in the 2004 season. Spygate or not, the Pats won both games and Steelers lost both games. For the Spygate people, the 2001 game, remember 2 of the 3 TDs scored by the Pats were from the worst special teams in the history of the playoffs. No spies needed for that. That and Bill Cowher was outcoached in the 2004 game and Belichick just toyed with the Steelers offense.

Having said that, I would love to see the team of the decade debate take a another turn if/when the Steelers win it all in 2009. Black and Gold forever.

Are these innocent, pensive looks or are Tom Brady and Bill Belichick practicing squinting to see the other teams' signals? You decide. :: Getty Images

As you'd expect, SI.com's Don Banks pretty much nailed it in his 2000s NFL Team of the Decade rankings, but I have a few questions …

1. Does anyone else feel uneasy about calling the Patriots the team of the decade even though they were caught illegally taping opponents' signals despite explicit warnings from the NFL? Does this call for an asterisk?

2. Of the metrics used to determine this list, number of winning seasons could be the most deceiving because it rewards mediocrity. Isn't one Super Bowl trip and nine losing seasons better than 10 years hovering around 8-8?

The Broncos had only one losing season this decade, but were they ever a threat to win it all? The 2000-2005 Dolphins always piled up wins in September and October, but disappeared late in the season.

3. The Giants' and Ravens' Super Bowl wins should catapult them over the Eagles. What did Philly really accomplish if they didn't get a ring?

4. Would the Steelers have won two Super Bowls this decade if Tom Brady hadn’t gotten injured last season? Then again, things would be a lot different without the tuck rule and David Tyree’s helmet as well.

5. Would anyone have a problem putting the Bengals at No. 32 because of their pathetic off-field legacy from this decade?

What do you think of Banks' rankings?
