It seems to me the Garcia was signed as a back-up for Kolb because Andy Reid knew that MCnabb was going to be out for at least two games, and that Vick is no where ready to play a whole game. Once McNabb is back expect Garcia to be released, or by a slight chance, Kolb is traded for a draft pick and Garcia is kept.

i will have any conversation with someone who can back up what they say with facts..you obviously seem to be person like that and who i would like to continue a dialogue with.. as i posted earlier, post 25, from Philthy, first compared Marino and Mcnabb.. not me.. you sent the correct Mcnabb stats and I backed it up with Marino's.. to disprove comment 25..

i just know Beagle fans from here and how their buttons get easily pushed and they show how "smart" they are.. i knew they would respond in the manner they did.. thats why comments 41 and 42 were removed.

At least we agree that Marino was better than McNabb...

45 - you are soo off the mark about me its funny.. i am happy that the Beagles suck. I am positive that they are overated.. i needed just a few of these "fans" to show their true colors and how Philthy fans act when challenged.. Their responses and posts here proved what i have known since living here.. Cockiness and arrogance runs abundant in this area.

Where in any post have i called Mcnabb a scrub? He is definitely not.. The whole argument is that the ongoing perception is that Mcnabb has been the one to lead the Beagles to their successes.. that is just not the case.. Duce Staley was so underated his first years here that broadcasters continued to mention it during their telecasts.. Westbrook has been the hidden MVP of this team for years and if it wasnt for his kickoff/punt return a few years ago that stunned the Giants at the end of the game, the Beagles would not even have made the playoffs that year (2006 i think). But these fans continue to look at Mcnabb as this savior. I lived here when as fast as they loved him, they booed him and wanted him out. That's what happens here. A city of drama and a land of drama queens.. They hated T.O. soo much when he played for San Fran, fell unbelieviably in love with him while he was here and now are back to hating him again. I remember the first year after he went to Dallas, how the media out here continued to follow T.O. like he still played for Philthy. The local media does it again now that he plays for Buffalo.. UNBELIEVABLE !!! If any team has a legitimate chip about a former player is the Packers !!!

One of the previous posts #25 compares Mcnabb and Marino just because both of whom don't have a superbowl.. post not done by me but another "intelligent Philthy fan".. so to prove my point on that post (with stats)here we go.. you 've given me Mcnabb's stats for his 11 yr career so lets see where these QBs who never won a Superbowl ended up...

McNabb has 196 TDs over 135 games, a career qb rating of 85.8, averages 2762 yards passing per season, and 285 rushing per season.

Marino - first 11 seasons - 45,173 passing yards, this avgs out to 4,106 yds per season over his first 11 years, 328 TDs in his first 11 seasons (170 starts)
career QB rating of 86.9 after 17 years !!!

Marino was never known as rusher so Mcnabb has him there..

Marino was a class act in this league and to put him and Mcnabb in a previous post is just wrong. That's my motivation.. to have these Beagle fans continue to show their true colors..

Still proving that you're an angry, negative person... I'm not trying to say McNabb is the best thing since sliced bread, or telling you what you can say. I'm simply pointing out that McNabb is a good QB, not to mention the best the Eagles have currently or could obtain. Note: Good, not great. Your rants about the fan base does not pertain to McNabb, which is why I questioned the point in including them. Also, what "facts" are you using? if you look at real facts, McNabb has 196 TDs over 135 games, a career qb rating of 85.8, averages 2762 yards passing per season, and 285 rushing per season. Not exactly a scrub.

41 and 42.. since you obviously don't know how to post, ill make this one simple for another "intelligent person" like urself.. if you really read my prior post, I mentioned Duce Staley and Brian Westbrook as 2. The receivers revolved in and out of here like a turnstyle it was ridiculous. James Thrash was solid for a few years, then dealt to the skins. I forget the name of their TE during the period but Mcnabb was always throwing to him. Akers was at his best so this is why your beloved Beagles had their NFC title runs. Not JUST B/C OF MCNABB!!

and don't worry about me leaving "Filthy" i plan on doing it in a Limo while I stop by and leave a final present at the front door of each Sports Stadium... considering I worked at each venue one time or another, got to meet with the wonderful owners on more than one occasion of each of the sports' teams and witness 'Filthadephians' at their finest on too many occassions to mention....i am soo glad to continue to see the best of "Philthy" showing themselves today...

39 - If you recall, the Eagles had a stoudt running back name Duce Staley during the first runs to the NFC title games, Mcnabb then had a more stoudt back and the multitime offensive team MVP as voted on by his teamates, not the NFL during the more recent runs. Throw in a mix of receivers, one name is obvious and will not be part of this post, and that's how the Eagles got to those title games.. Not becauase of 1 person in Mcnabb. I remember even Feely leading them during the playoff run one year and then Mcnabb getting the praise even though he hadnt played in that playoff series. If you actually read my more earlier posts, no where did I say Kolb was better than Mcnabb so you have misquoted me completely. I made references to how Kolb should've been cut and Feely kept. That I repeated on a couple occassions. If you want to dispute any of my facts, please have some of your own next time. I never ever said I wanted Kolb in their to play.. Mcnabb is simply overated because he always had a good supporting cast of running backs and receivers that got the Eagles to those title games. It was only a team effort that got them to a Super Bowl. One interesting random fact.. Can you name any other QB that barfed a lung up during a Super Bowl while on live TV on the field ?? If you can, then let me know who !!!

Plus you either must be from here or have lived here at one point or have some connection here. I keep my posts clean and have only had one word "ahole" censored. I didnt even use the whole word b/c I wont resort to full curses on posts. Like you and everyone here, we have 1st amendment rights to speak our mind. I have come from another Metro city larger than here and lived there the first part of my life.. I have the life experience to make a comparison and determination on this city's fans, how they act, how they are because I have witnessed it and lived with it every day for 15 + years.. The majority of them act EXACTLY the way I mentioned. If you have never lived here or have no connection, then you are in no position to tell me what I can and can not mention about their fans... If you did live here or have a connection, you're still in no position to tell me what I can and can not write.. sorry you don't like my comments and you have every right to express that. I would not tell you that you can't write this or write that. I expect the same courtesy..

yeah, I'm getting really sick of these random rampages... I'm not sure what "facts" or "research" you've done, but I sure can't see it in any of your posts. Why are you tripping, Mr 203? McNabb has been a good QB for Philly, leading them to six (yes, six) NFC championship games and one Superbowl. I really can't see how you can argue putting in a backup who didn't really immpress against a below average Saint's defence. You yourself make a case that Matt Cassel is overrated after one good season in NE, yet you want to put in Kolb after two games (counting last year when they benched McNabb) in which he played at a low level? Kolb will need time to develop, and the Eagles could compete to win it all now. Face it, McNabb is the better QB when healthy. Philly needs to ride him to the wheels finally fall off, then re-evaluate the situation. And if you're looking for arrogant fans, take a look at New England or Oakland. Not that fans should be any part of this conversation, but leave that as it may. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your stay in Philly, but that doesn't need to carry over to discussions about their sports teams.

#37 - any defense including the Lions would've looked stoudt against Carolina in week 1 when their QB is continually serving up easy INTs... we saw the true Eagles defense yesterday..

Kevin Kolb threw for almost 400 yards subbing for Donovan McNabb./AP

PHILADELPHIA -- League-wide observations from the press box of the Saints-Eagles game that heads in the opposite direction of your average pro football analysis.

1. Kevin Kolb played well enough to make the Eagles quarterback situation even messier. In the best of circumstances, that town and its media are wary of the quarterback. Now they have one of the most unusual and potentially explosive stews possible at that position.

Coach Andy Reid said Kolb would start if Donovan McNabb can't go next Sunday against the Chiefs. Kolb threw for 391 yards, two touchdowns and three picks (two of which were after the game was out of hand) on Sunday. Michael Vick will be eligible and the wildcat-crazy Reid will probably use him on at least five plays. And Jeff Garcia will have more practice time under his belt and is ready to run an offense he knows well.

Depth is good, but all those options might be counter-productive. Kolb clearly has NFL talent, but are they going to give him time to develop it? Garcia is a strong veteran who could theoretically undermine both Kolb and McNabb. And who knows what Vick will do? Playing McNabb next week against the Chiefs makes little sense, since they have the bye the following week and they could get him two more solid weeks of rest. But will McNabb push himself to get out there?

This isn't a quarterback controversy. It's potentially quarterback mayhem.

2. Drew Brees has been nearly perfect and is on track to break all sorts of single-season records -- but it's not going to happen this year. The Saints are too good and too balanced to throw the ball enough for him to break Dan Marino's yardarge mark (5,084) and Tom Brady's TD mark (50). Former Bronco Mike Bell looks like he's in the best shape of his life and could provide enough running game to buy time and keep the defense off the field. Also, New Orleans did all this damage against the Lions and an Eagles defense that looks very shaky. The Saints visit Buffalo, host the Jets and Giants and visit the Dolphins in coming weeks.

3. Can a coach be on the hot seat at 3-1? The Redskins topped the Rams 9-7 and have the Lions and Bucs coming up. But Jim Zorn is an offensive guy and Washington just can't score. That has to leave fans and management scratching their head. The defense is good and they showed they can win ugly, but the Redskins have become a must-not-watch team.

4. Green Bay's 31-24 loss to the Bengals was no fluke. The Packers came into the regular season as the most over-hyped team.

5. Watch out for a Jets letdown next week. They won the game they've been talking about for six months and probably feel pretty good about themselves. The 0-2 Titans are in exactly the opposite position, but their quarterback Kerry Collins is at least familiar with Rex Ryan's defense from last year and might not be as perplexed as Matt Schaub and Brady were.

6. The Jags and Bucs better improve quickly, because they don't want to be positioned too high in the draft to take Tim Tebow. Even the most loyal Floridian isn't going to argue he's a No. 1 or No. 2 pick.

7. The Eagles used the wildcat nine times on Sunday -- seven times in the first half when the game was close. Reid may very well be setting up the offense for Vick's return and trying to protect the inexperienced Kolb. It wasn't flashy -- they tried only one double-reverse Kolb pass that didn't work. But it was effective enough to stick. Lots of people in the media declared the wildcat dead after Week 1, but it's certainly alive and well in Philly.

8. It's the easiest time to pass the ball in the history of the NFL - and JaMarcus Russell goes 7-for-24. How do you do that? How many quarterbacks in the NFL could do better? At least 30 ... there are four in Philadelphia alone.

9. How many people want a Mulligan on their Patriots Super Bowl pick? To be fair, no one knew they'd trade Richard Seymour and Jerod Mayo would get hurt. But if you did take New England and could have a mulligan, who would you choose? The popular press box answer seems to be Baltimore after two weeks. Ray Lewis simply isn't getting older.

10. First coach to get fired? The Jaguars' Jack Del Rio is my front-runner only because Eric Mangini will probably get at least a year to prove himself. But Mangini looks even worse since Ryan has done so well in New York. Everyone around the Jets seems to be having a blast, while Cleveland is the most depressing place in the NFL right now.

It's quarterback mayhem.

</intro>
