The Yankees haven't heard from the Blue Jays regarding Roy Halladay since an initial call or two a couple weeks back, leading them to believe Toronto's first assertion that it doesn't want to trade Halladay within the division.
One Toronto-connected person mentioned the Yankees and Red Sox are "Public enemey No. 1 and 1A."
But while the Yankees understand they'd have to pay a premium in terms of prospects, they still appear to be monitoring the situation. With Chien-Ming Wang out and journeyman Sergio Mitre making his seasonal debut on Tuesday (a victory), the Yankees obviously have a reason to be interested. They also have the prospects and the money, so they can't be ruled out entirely.
If Toronto cannot get what they want from non-divisional clubs, there's a possibility Blue Jays execs would reconvene talks with the Yankees (in fact, that is New York's hope).
