The Yankees reached out to Toronto about star pitcher Roy Halladay today and came back with the idea it would take an arm and a leg -- actually two arms. And big ones at that.
The Yankees were given the impression it would take both of their top young pitchers, Joba Chamberlain and Phil Hughes, plus two top prospects. While Toronto didn't name the prospects, the Yankees' best minor-league prospects are outfielder Austin Jackson and catchers Austin Romine and Jesus Montero.
The Yankees' chances appear to be minute, as Toronto meant it when they suggested it would take a premium for them to get Halladay. The same is presumably true for Boston.
