The Reds are pursuing Blue Jays third baseman Scott Rolen at the same time they are offering some of their pitchers up for trade. Sometimes baseball can be a delicate balancing act.

Reds GM Walt Jocketty has been looking for more right-handed thump in the Reds lineup and has a longstanding relationship with Rolen going back to their Cardinals.

Meanwhile, Jocketty has told other teams that at least one veteran pitcher, Bronson Arroyo, is available. Aaron Harang could be another Reds pitcher on the block. The Reds' interest in Rolen was first mentioned by Fozsports.com and CBSsports.com.
