The Diamondbacks are fielding inquiries on starters Doug Davis and Jon Garland, reliever Chad Qualls and first baseman Chad Tracy. However, the chances for a pre-deadine deal for any of the pitchers didn't looking great as of late Thursday night.
There still could be deals after today's deadline, but in the case of Arizona, Qualls is less likely than the others to clear. GMs are saying that this is "the softest" deadline ever because more players than ever are likely to clear.
There are many more buyers than sellers, especially for relivers, so a solid closer like Qualls may not clear. Many teams have shown interest in Qualls, while Milwaukee has shown interest in Davis.
