Brian Westbrook, already hobbled by an ankle injury, has another ailment to deal with. From ESPN.com:

Coach Andy Reid said Monday that Westbrook, who was back in the lineup after sitting out last week against Chicago with an ankle injury, broke two ribs on the eighth play of the Eagles' 23-17 loss to the Washington Redskins on Sunday.

Reid would not speculate about Westbrook's availability for the Eagles' game at San Francisco this weekend.

Dear Andy Reid,

This stinks. But please do all of us Eagles fans a favor and show some creativity in the play calling. I don't care if you have to get a PC to randomize the play calls, please do something different than 5-yard passes in San Francisco, especially now that Westbrook is down.

That's ashame about Westbrook. The guy can't seem to stay healthy. Ironically, if there is anyone in Philadelphia who knows about ribs, its Andy Reid. Hey-yo.

Haha, good point fiercescuba. Delicious insightfulness.

The whiney Beagles and their whiney coach and their oft injured team. My word people when is it going to be enough ???

Did anyone else agree with what Troy Aikman said during yesterday's broadcast? He said he was surprised the Eagles gave Westbrook a big contract knowing his history of injuries. Sounds like a dead on assessment to me and that is why Aikman is probably the best NFL announcer out there.

Effective play calling-- (no check mark) Red Zone efficiency--(no check mark) Tight End--(no check mark) Aggressive Defense--(no check mark) Creativity after first 15 scripted plays--(no check mark

Check Please!

This is funny. Thank you.

Two biggest weapons on offense for this team can not stay healthy. Front office needs to start spending money in the right places. Paid way to much for a cb this past off season....hes good but not worth that much.

Huh? I'm not even REMOTELY an eagles fan and this makes absolutely no sense.
"Whiney coach?" Wow... Is anyone heard from LESS than Andy Reid?
"Oft injured?" I'll give that Westbrook has shown some fragility, and Mcnabb's coming OFF an injury, but aside from that, they're probably LESS injury-prone than most teams.

Oh... I guess I have to give credit for the word "Beagles." It rhymes. I get it. So witty.

Didn't notice... you're from Jersey.... Go figure -- it's all making sense now.

The only check mark is one in the loss column (not good at all Eagles front office!). Time for aa serious reality check, re-design the play calling and a massive improvement is needed for the defense (defense-less against most runs on more than one occassion. Defenseless against the pass on more than one occassion too). For once the specialty team gets their act together, buut the rest of the team failed.

Westbrook is the only real offensive threat the Beagle's have. So as long as they use him as much as they do, he will continue to get hurt more often. I'm no fan of the Beagle's, but I respect Westbrook's talent. He deserves better. Get rid of McNabb, they are never going to win with him as QB.

October 7, 2008  09:48 AM ET

Mr.Lurie...listen up ..Go out and get you a 'Real" wide recieving threat..Lions (Mr.Williams) get him while he's still available....this guy will do to your offense what the 'player' did in 04, open up your offense and make everybody a better target for McNabb.

Good post....love to see the idiots put in their place.

This is why Brian Westbrook shouldn't be in pre-season MVP talk... Got to play a season first.

October 8, 2008  12:53 AM ET

More importantly gents, DO I START BUCKHALTER SUNDAY?????

October 8, 2008  12:59 AM ET

Thanks Andy Reid for running your horse untill his legs fall off! I knew picking up Buckhalter was a genius move three weeks ago when I did! Do me a favor Mr. Reid and start Westbrook Sunday so Patrick Willis can finish him off by literally snapping him in two! Keep up the good work by working your playmaker when his says PUBLICALLY HES 75% and continuing to run him ragged so early in the season, when you have a perfectly solid backup. Good luck week 16 and 17 when you need him, because BWEST will be nothing but a sack of meat since its obvious your never going to let him fully recover! Sad.
