First day: Favre denies absolutely that any call took place.
Second day: Favre agrees that a call took place, but only discussed plans to go hunting with Millen.
Third day: Favre agrees that there was some football discussion, but it was "insignificant".

Forgive me if I decide to not believe anything coming out of that primadonna's mouth.

Nothing he said was illegal or against rules or whatever. But it was classless to make the call (which I believe happen because Favre denies it) to give inside information. That it made no difference is absolutely immaterial. It all affects his reputation.

actually he told Peter King that the report about him calling the Lions and giving them important game plans or play calls, etc. was B.S. WHICH IT WAS!! He didn't call the lions and he didn't give them important info. what could he have possibly told them to help beat the Packers that they didn't already know from watching film? he didn't have a playbook or a game plan, and Brett has always been known for being honest and telling it like it is. sorry, you're just reaching for one more reason to hate Brett. You may think I'm bias, but I'm no more bias than you are.

no, the MEDIA played YOU. and because you don't like Brett you're willing to believe the lies of the media to give you more of a reason to hate him. You've been had by the media and Brett has always been known for 16 seasons in Green Bay, whether good or bad, to be blatantly honest. by the way, Brett wrote a letter to the "bring brett back" organization to reconsider the "fire Ted Thompson" attitude and try to be more positive about everything. he may have been hurt by what happened, but he still has friends on the Packers team and he wouldn't try to "sabatage" his old teammates, regardless of what he thinks of Ted.

Never in 16 seasons in Green Bay did I ever see Bret lie in any of his weekly press conferences. He always took the high road and defended the Packers and his team mates. Thompson has lied about everything since day one and hates Favre for what ever reason, probably because Bret knows what he really is! This is all BS as Bret says because Thompsom him self said we have changed the offense or is he lieing about that also. In regar to Glazier, I do not put any fact into a report that comes from unnamed sorces. If you are going to put out a report then let me know who you got the info from and this goes to all of these reporters. If I was in the NFL and some one wanted to know something and I knew it was true I would let them use my name and that is the whole problem with this report. In regar to some of you saying things about the retirement process, I know for a fact that Thompsom wanted him out of here from day one. That comes from the wife of Shermans right hand man who is now the athletic director at Duke. He would tell her from day one the ted wants him out and that is sad. Thompson deserves no success and as of today is 29 and 26 as a GM. I think Glaziers source is Thompson and that I would take to the bank. Glazier come out with the truth or go away. Bret good luck in NY and keep your hopes alive for the playoffs, wouldn't that be something because Ted and Glazier have no chance for that.

The fact is, Favre was mad the Packers were doing well without him and wanted to see them lose to the worst team in football, hence the phone call.
skysrbleu,
I'm confused, the Packers had won one game against the Vikings at that point...how does that mean "the Packers were doing well"? and Brett didn't deny conversation. he said Matt Millen called him (not the other way around) and admitted that he figured Millen was calling to fish him for info. He's also friends with him and they talked about hunting and Brett using Matt's property. He didn't give them a game plan (how could he?) and he didn't give them plays. there's nothing he could have given them that could have benefited them much, and last time I checked the Lions lost pretty bad to the Packers. The Lions are pretty stupid, all they had to do was watch game film from the past 16 years. just because you hate Favre doesn't make him a liar.

Brett Favre, AP

Brett Favre admitted today he did have a phone conversation with Matt Millen before the Lions' Week 2 game against the Packers, but again denied he gave Millen 'any game planning' that would aid the Lions. This was further clarification of what Favre texted to SI.com's Peter King on Sunday, when Favre said Fox reporter Jay Glazer's original report was "total B.S."

With today's latest developments, King phoned in and had this to say. From King:

I still don't know exactly what happened in this Favre saga. From what Favre told the New York media today, obviously he had a conversation with Millen the week before the game and some football topics were discussed. But I still don't know if secrets -- such as code words that could be useful in what defense the Lions would morph into on certain Green Bay plays -- were exchanged. My gut feeling is, I doubt they were.

It doesn't sound as though there was any sort of hour-long, exhaustive strategy session between Favre and the Lions, as reported by Glazer. But again all I know is this: Favre texted me on Sunday that the FOX report was “total B.S.”, and Lions chief operating officer Tom Lewand, after talking to coaches on his staff, told me that Favre had not advised them before the game.

So what do we know now? We know that there was some communication between Favre and Millen. I just don't know what that communication entailed and too many people close to the story have clammed up. In this business, we report on a story until we know as much about all sides of it as we can find out. At this point, what I have is a vehement Favre denial as well as one from a top Lions official. What we also have is an admission from Favre that a phone call did take place. Beyond that, there seems to be an oceanic gulf between what Glazer reported and what Favre admitted today. All I can say is this: If I find out anything to advance the story, I'll let you know.
