According to a report in the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Brett Favre will meet with Dr. James Andrews, a renowned sports orthopedist from Birmingham, Ala., about possible surgery to repair a partially torn biceps tendon in his right shoulder.
Assuming the release-the-tendon procedure is successful, Favre would need approximately 6-8 weeks of rehabilitation. After that, he could be ready to sign a deal with the Minnesota Vikings.
As stated in the Pioneer Press, Favre's decision to unretire a second time and play for Minnesota could depend on the severity of his biceps injury. If his surgery is routine, he would likely be ready for the start of training camp. A more complex procedure would require an extended rehabilitation and would likely dissuade Favre (who turns 40 in October) from reconvening his NFL career.
