Michael Vick returns to his West Coast offense roots in Philly.

Quick observations about Michael Vick's signing with the Eagles:

1. When Donovan McNabb implored the team's management to go out and get more offensive playmakers last offseason, I'm guessing he didn't mean at quarterback.

2. Suddenly, the Eagles have speed, speed, speed. They drafted DeSean Jackson at receiver last year in the first round, Jeremy Maclin at receiver this year, and now they've added Vick's wheels to the mix.

3. Maybe Vick picked the Eagles because they currently have no one wearing No. 7 on their roster. He just doesn't have any disposable income lying around to pay a teammate to give up his old jersey number.

4. The biggest loser in Thursday night's blockbuster development? Eagles reserve quarterback Kevin Kolb. Philadelphia's 2007 second-round pick is further than ever from the top of the depth chart.

5. Smart move by Vick, signing with the Eagles. In the two biggest games of his NFL career, Vick has lost to the Eagles in the playoffs in Philadelphia: a 2002 NFC divisional round game and the 2004 NFC Championship Game. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

6. Coming to a stadium near you, the Michael Vick Redemption Tour. In order, it rolls through Giants Stadium on Sept. 3 (the Eagles’ final preseason game, which Vick is eligible to play in), and then theoretically could include the following regular-season stops, depending on the length of Vick’s season-opening league suspension: (We have omitted Philly's opener at Carolina in Week 1, because there's almost no chance Vick will be active for that one).
*At Oakland, Oct. 18
*At Washington, Oct. 26
*At San Diego, Nov. 15
*At Chicago, Nov. 22
*At Atlanta, Dec. 6 ... (Vick’s biggest road trip of all)
*At Giants Stadium again, Dec. 13
*And at Dallas, Jan. 3

7. Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Vick struggle in the West Coast offense when he tried playing in Atlanta under ex-Falcons offensive coordinator Greg Knapp? Maybe Andy Reid and Marty Mornhinweg’s version in Philly will be a different story with different results, but the inaccurate Vick and the West Coast didn’t look like much of a match in 2005-2006 (35 TDs/20 INTs/54 percent passing).
