What's it been, three weeks since Brett Favre has been in the headlines? That's obviously way too long for The Man Who Can't Retire, so we awake to this report from Jay Glazer this morning. From FoxSports.com:
If I were a betting man, I'd swear Brett Favre would be joining the Vikings in the next few weeks, or at least attempt to join the team in that time frame. ...
I'm absolutely convinced. Why? For starters, because everyone else on the Vikings seems to be convinced of the same thing. I mean damn near everybody!
During my two days in Mankato, nearly everyone I talked to within the team talked about Favre joining not as an "if" but rather a "when." ...
When I say nearly everyone I talked to on the team is convinced he's coming, that is not an exaggeration. People from all walks of life within the organization talk about it as if it's no secret, almost an afterthought.
"I'm telling you it's already done," said one Viking. "Right after the Indy game (first preseason game). I don't think anyone here doesn't think that."
Another Viking said, "I don't know if it's done, but I think he'll be in by the third preseason game."

Anyone ever see the special on Favre a few years ago that focused on his early days and rise to stardom? One of the things that stood out to me were the portions of the story on Favre's dad, how he was apparently such a nut-job. Well I say the nut has not fallen very Favre from the tree in Old Man Brett's case! It's one thing to be able to stay in the league a long time and contribute in some fashion - many QBs have done so with dignity. But to be in/out/on/off/ back/forth like Favre has indicates either poor foresight or pure craziness. I'm sure as Brett says that he didn't plan things to go this way, but it is that lack of planning or inability to stop the insanity that his waffling has created that makes him look insane and is taking us all along for the ride with him!

Everytime this story pops up, it becomes more and more annoying. A few weeks ago this primadonna comes out and says that he is finally done. Many celebrated this fact and left him behind. Great career and a sure fire first ballot HOF. Now this story comes out and pretty much launches Favre back in when many are not worried about him. What happened, did he realize that nobody cares and stopped talking about him? Brett, coming back is a great way to tarnish a great career. This is starting to sound like Joe Namath. Just dont know when to hang it up. You had and still have a chance to end you career on a high note. But then again WHO CARES!!!!!!
