After Texans linebacker Brian Cushing last week was suspended for violating the NFL's steroid policy, the Associated Press announced Monday it would hold a "revote" for the Defensive Rookie of the Year award. Cushing, who won the award with 39 of 50 votes back in January, will still be eligible.

SI.com writers Peter King and Don Banks are among the 50 AP voters and shared their contrasting viewpoints on SI.com.

Here's an excerpt from King:

I agree with the AP’s decision to keep Cushing in contention for the award. It’s up to the 50 voters to decide -- just the way it should be. If a majority feel he should be the defensive rookie of the year, then so be it. But I won’t be one of his supporters.

Here's an excerpt from Banks:

I have one of the votes that has to be re-cast by noon on Wednesday, and unless something dramatic alters the facts as I know them, I plan on voting Cushing the league’s defensive rookie of the Year, just as I did in January.

What are your thoughts? Should the AP have gone forward with a revote? Does Cushing still deserve the award? Let us know in the comments below.

Jeff Ireland :: AP

Earlier this week, the NFL world was buzzing about Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland being identified by Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant as the NFL executive who asked him if his mother was a prostitute during a pre-draft interview.

Public outrage was high towards Ireland and the Dolphins for asking such an insensitive, and possibly illegal, question of the highly scrutinized prospect. But that was before Jim Trotter learned from two sources the context of the questioning, which he revealed in an SI.com column on Friday:

According to the sources, Ireland began the meeting by asking Bryant about his upbringing and his relationship with his siblings. Then he asked what Bryant’s father did for a living when Bryant was growing up. The following exchange allegedly ensued:

"My dad was a pimp.”

“What did your mom do (for a living)?”

“She worked for my dad.”

“Your mom was a prostitute?”

"No, she wasn't a prostitute."

Trotter draws the conclusion that Ireland's question was a logical follow-up, given the context of Bryant's response. Further, Trotter writes Bryant owes Ireland an apology for shaping the story in a misleading way.

The first round of the 2010 NFL Draft is in the books. Several questions come to mind:

• What were your initial impressions of the new prime-time format?

• Which team had the best first day? Which team had the worst?

Peter King said the biggest reach of the first round was the Jags taking Tyson Alualu. Do you agree?

• Everyone's talking about the Broncos picking Tim Tebow in the first round. Was it the right move? Will he start at all in 2010, or wait until 2011?
