The NFL free agency period is off to a fast and furious start with the Browns wisely keeping Derek Anderson in the fold and other teams looking to improve as well. I'll weigh in with some of my thoughts in my next edition of Monday Morning Quarterback, but I'm interested in hearing what you guys think of the early comings and goings.
Who's made the shrewdest moves so far? Who's been hurt the most?

The Browns keeping Derek Anderson was a good move. The Redskins signing of their backup QB (forgot the name) didn't really impress me. $3 million a year? Too much for a back up.

Buffalo signed Kawika Mitchell and as we speak Marcus Stroud (DT - Jax) is in Buffalo talking trade. Since the Bills filled thier OLB spot and are trying to fill thier DT spot, Id say they are making the right moves so far

whoever picks up Michael Turner will benefit the most I think because he has been mentored by the great L.T. and I think him sitting behind that guy for the last 4 years has really motivated him to make splash for whoever gets him

The Eagles pick of asante' is huge!!! With a healthy d-line look for the birds to take the division this year...Look at the 07 stats and the birds are the only team to actually out score their opponents. The only thing missing was the takeaways

everyone talks about Daniel Snyder epitomizing the failure of big FA signings to better a team for the sake of a Superbowl. I cant think of any greater example than last years New England Patriots with all their FA acquisitions to "buy" said Superbowl. They may have muffed the ball on Moss. I think the teams that truly win are the ones that stay out of the circus. LA is the biggest loser by its signings. Minimal improvement for maximum dollars

I love what the Bucs did getting Faine. May have overpaid for him, but welcome to the new world of the NFL for young free agents with talent. Next up, bring in Ben Troupe or Eric Johnson at TE. The WR group is very lean except for Moss, and he is not going anywhere but back to NE. Would like to see a younger talented receiver or two go to TB, but the pickings are slim. Don't overpay for Berrian or Walker (who is always injured). Get them if you can, if not draft speed... GO BUCS!!!

What were the Bucs thinking? With all of the Bucs' needs, why on earth would they overpay and I mean OVERPAY for a center that got booed out of Cleveland and couldn't open up holes for the running game in New Orleans? Go figure.

Add to the Anderson deal, trading for Shaun Rogers and Corey Williams and signing Donte Stallworth has been huge for the Browns. They want to win now and that's evident seeing is how there first draft pick in in the fourth round. Is something in the works? It's weird for Phil Savage not have first day draft picks.

I love what the browns have done with Williams and Rogers. The Bills/Stroud signing is a good one. Other than that, I'm not very impressed with any of the other signings. Too much money for average players. I can understand most teams are shying away from free agency. Every year it seems like the quality of players goes down yet the price goes up. At least the money isn't gauranteed like it is in baseball
p.s. Peter King, I'm really going to miss Inside the NFL. I enjoy hearing what you have to say.
